Bought a '24 Toyota Tacoma SR. - Miguel.lujano
Bought a '24 Toyota Tacoma SR. Had excellent customer service with the sales department. At 5k miles we took the truck to get serviced, the technician noticed that the battery terminals were corroded and charged us to clean it. A couple weeks ago the truck died at 7,800 miles. Called the dealership to ask about getting it towed to their service department. We were told that they were not in charge of towing. We reached out to our insurance and were only able to get it towed home. After speaking to some friends, we were able to get it towed to the closest dealership which is in Rock Hill. RH dealership diagnosed it as being improperly wired aftermarket foglights. They disconnected the foglights and said the truck worked. Next day when we picked up the truck it started shaking and all the lights came on, we took the truck back to RH and the next day we were told we need a catalytic converter which would run us 3k and would not be covered under warranty because of the foglights. I reached out to customer service and was told that we should not have been charged for the cleaning of the corroded battery and that we had roadside assistance until '26 and that this should have been relayed to us. We were advised to get a second opinion on the catalytic converter so we towed it here. The technician went off the notes from previous dealership and told us the same thing, which defeats the purpose of a second opinion. We called customer service at Toyota and were assigned a case manager. Case manager said that it was highly unlikely that fog lights could be the cause of a failing catalytic converter and said Toyota would cover 50% of the repairs and would pay for a new battery and terminals. I have reached out to the general manager at Town and Country to see what can be done about the other 50% and have been told by 4 different people that he is in a meeting and will reach out to me. It has now been over 48 hours and we have not heard back. This is a 39-40k dollar truck that was purchased in the hope of not having to deal with issues like these. This has also been a daily driver which means that we have had to take off of work. We have been without this tacoma for 2 weeks now and hope that the general manager is able to help us out. Again, the sales team was amazing but the rest leaves much to be desired.
