So the day comes and I go check in, and give the guy at the counter the coupon. After a few minutes he asks me what vehicle I have, I told him a PriusV, he said “this coupon is only for a Tundra” I told him that I have a tundra but didn't know that this coupon was just for that particular vehicle. He then took a yellow highlighter and marked on my coupon where it says “VIN ending in cx22xxxx only” So at the bottom with microscopic fine print that this 62-y/o man can't read without special glasses, but, to make things worse they made the fine print a light gray! Lighter than ANY print on that coupon or on the flyer! He was gracious enough to use a yellow highlighter to show what I missed. I laughed because he had a very hard time highlighting just that part since it was so tiny. Now, since I have had great customer service with Vancouver Toyota in the past I figured they would say something like: "We’re sorry for the oversight, yes, it is very tiny print and since you already have 3 Toyota's from us we're going to go ahead and honor this coupon since you told the A.I. person that you had a coupon and were unable to verify anything since it was an A.I., especially since it's a Toyota PriusV it takes less oil than the Tundra and is actually cheaper for us. Did they say that? No… They said “we'll give you $20 off of the oil change” so I said well how much would that be? he said $115ish! I told him I can’t afford that right now, I was on the fence with being able to afford the $24.95 oil change! He said there was nothing he can do and he was unwilling to honor the coupon that they sent me since it was specific to my Toyota Tundra. At that point I asked for a manager and he said go ahead and have a seat in the waiting area. After about 10 minutes in the waiting room I get a call on my cell phone from a lady who says she was the manager. I explained the situation to her and asked if she could go ahead and just honor the coupon they sent me? She refused. I told her about the A.I. rep that I had to deal with that failed to give any indication that this coupon was for a specific vehicle. She made the excuse that the A.I. they are using is new, and they still haven't worked out all the bugs yet. I said well that's unfortunate but I don't think I, a long time customer, should have to pay for your failed implementation of A.I. I also mentioned the tiny small GRAY print on the coupon, and how nowhere on the card other than that giving an indication that it was just for my Tundra. She still refused to honor the coupon! I wasted hours of my time and gas (I live out in the country), because this Dealership was unwilling to see how they failed to indicate in a reasonable way that this was for one specific VIN, and they didn’t care enough to use basic common sense and just honor the oil change deal they would have given me anyway on the Tundra! I told her I was very upset about this but she got even more defensive and a bit snippy. We ended the conversation and I left. As a little extra slap in the face they left a free car wash coupon with an attached strawberry hard candy taped to it that said “We Appreciate Your Business” on my dashboard! Really? What a joke! If I was the manager there I would have shown up IN PERSON, then I would have listened, and taken one look at that coupon with the tiny grayed out print and said I am very sorry for the confusion sir, I will honor this coupon for your PriusV, and I will inform our Marketing department to make it more visible to the customer, ESPECIALLY since this would most likely only affect customers with MULTIPLE Toyota vehicles (LOYAL Customers). Also, you shouldn’t have to bear the brunt of our new experimental untested A.I. More
