Buying a car is a weird experience, first you have the excitement of, well, getting a new car! But that can be tempered by the whole ordeal of interacting with the dreaded car dealer. We all know the stereotype, the sleazy salesman and the lines "What will it take to get you in this car today?" and the haggling and all other headaches. In my search for a new ride I visited several such establishments with each leaving a bad taste until I visited Shaker's Kia in Watertown.
My first contact was via email with Edward Shaker, just checking out options and getting a feel for what was available and he did a great job of assessing what I was looking for and what would work for me. Now it was time to actually visit them and look around, was it going to be like the others? Would I leave vowing never to set foot in a dealer ever again? Was I destined to buy a used car from some nutjob on Craigslist?????
Nope. As soon as I walked into Shaker's Kia, the vibe was just incredible. I got the sense that it was a family run dealer (which it is) and that the staff there actually enjoyed being there. Edward welcomed me, and got some more info from me to help narrow down what I was looking for and get something ready for me to drive. Then he handed me off to his sales consultant Alex Graziano who did the actual job of getting me the car I liked. Alex is very knowledgeable about the Kia line and answered every question I had (even the idiotic ones) with patience, clarity and a good sense of humor. Not once while his presence (or in the entire dealership for that matter) did I feel pressured or rushed to make any kind of decision, again the vibe of the place makes it feel less of an ordeal and more of an exciting experience of buying a car.
My hat's off to the Shaker staff and Alex in particular for helping me out and working with me to get me a car that I hope to enjoy for quite some time.

I am a younger female who was looking to find a reliable car, that was in my price range, that had all my wants, and wasn't going to put me in the mechanics everyday. Which I know sounds impossible.
Sherece A. Mad six was absolutely the best sales rep I have ever encountered and I am so thankful I had her. She was so caring and understand towards my wants, needs, and price range. Not once did she try to pressure me into any thing nor did she try to get me to go "a little higher". She understand what I wanted. Not only did she act this way the first day, she continued searching for me after my first time there. Called me and emailed me asking me my preferences. The second time I went in, she had the exact car I wanted.
Not only did she go out of her way to find me a car, she found one with exactly every little thing I wanted, low miles, just out of a lease, in my price range, etc. I could go on for days about how helpful Sherece is.
She also reassured me about any mechanical problems and provided me with all information.
My experience with buying the vehicle, the repair shop, facility everything was absolutely great.
I don't think I will ever go anywhere else
When I buy another car in the future 110% best believe I am going to find Sherece Maddix for my purchase because I would not be as happy and confident if it wasn't for her.

We had already planned on buying our new Mazda from another local dealership but we were just unsure and not happy with the way we were treated. So, we decided to look for our Mazda at another dealership. Mazda of Old Saybrook was wonderful and earned our respect, reference and future business in how they dealt with us.
The biggest difference was the salesman - Joe Silvia. He was honest from the get-go and worked hard and didn't stop until he found use the exact car we wanted. He was respectful, honest and answered every question we had. He is the primary reason we would return to Mazda of Old Saybrooki. I highly recommend him to anyone looking for a new car.

I purchase a couple cars a year so I know what might be out there for buying experiences. Kevin and Mike were fantastic! I did throw them a curve requesting an out of state reg which they haven't done before. They handled it very professionally as it was a lot of work (and stress) for them. THANKS! The dealership is very neat, clean and the buying experience very relaxed and comfortable. Pricing was also exactly were I wanted to be. It is with regret I write this second review. My boyfriend loved this place and then stuff happened that I believe to be note worthy.
Let me tell you about my day today. I went to Gary Rome Kia for an oil change, as part of my agreement with them is I am entitled to 2 free years of oil changes. I was also entitled to service on major parts (transmission) for 60,000 miles of my driving, but in April I was told that was not correct, when I first reported to Gary Rome that the transmission was having problems.
Well, anyway, I went to do my oil change, I was told that my car was spitting transmission fluid in every direction, and that I should not drive the car. I called farm car care, who had been the last people to touch it. Gary Rome and Farmers had a verbal argument that made the Civil War look like a Peace protest. While I waited for the tow truck, the service manager told me it would be 2,200 to fix and offered me the moment to trade in the vehicle. When that didn't work, they tried to get me to sign for the Gary Rome credit card. When that didn't work I was ignored and waited for the tow truck.
Then it was Farmers turn. Farmers showed me the transmission. The bottom was wet and the top was bone dry. While it was up on the lift (5 minutes) it didn't drip once. The level was checked and it was normal. The warning light for the transmission has never at any time come on. When shifting gears it was fine. I witnessed this personally. Now with 2 totally different views I have a solution. I will find a transmission specialist, and ask his opinion. To the garage he agrees with I will offer a sincere thank you, to the garage he doesn't agree with we are not done-bet on it. oh, and before I forget I went to Northeast Transmissions before I came home, driving my car from Rockville to Willimantic to Coventry. He doesn't do kias, but he didn't give me the impression that he believed Gary Rome.

Car dealerships can be such a negative experience but I found the completely opposite at Kia Stamford. From the second we walked in it was a wonderful experience. Every single person looked happy to be there and I never once felt like I was being cheated. They were patient in letting me test drive cars and just provided such a lovely experience. I felt like I was being helped by family and friends. I will definitely be a repeat customer and highly recommend Kia Stamford!!!! It was amazing! Thanks again!

I recently leased a car from them and set a 10,000 mile limit per year. I was told that if I thought I'd exceed that limit, to call and they would up my mileage limit for an extra monthly fee. I moved down to nc last month and went to the dealership down here to discuss upping the mileage. I was told that kia motors doesn't "up" mileage for a fee and as long as I plan on buying the car (which I am and I told kia of milford that) the mileage doesn't matter. I called kia headquarters to confirm which they did. So where would the money that kia of milford was going to charge me to "up my miles" go? In their pocket?! They're sketchy and I wish I'd given someone else my business.

Purchased a Kia Soul from Rob on 9/15. This was my 2nd purchase from Crowley, i was tra ding in my 2011 KIA Sportage for this newer Soul. Rob was great and did his job thoroughly. Then turned over to Kara the finance person. I asked her to apply at my credit union and she said she did but lied. She applied to 9 banks and got me a 4.74% loan. With 9 credit inquiries my credit rating dropped 10%. She talked me into the additional service contract for an additional $1663. In Jan. 2016 I went to my credit union and looked into refinance. I was given a 1.2% loan and was told then that there was never an inquiry from Kara to them in September. They told me the service contract was a sham and I should cancel it do I called Kara to cancel. Went in on 2/16/16 to sign the papars. Never filed by Kara even though I called her sometimes twice a week in addition to calling the service company also. Finally called the service company and talked them into letting me cancel and they sent papers for me to sign that I immediately faxed back on 3/28/16. They called back that they had received the papers and cancelled contract and check would be sent to kia. Kia received check on 3/39/16 and I told her to send it to my new bank. Nothing done until I called business office at kia on 4/20/16 and was told they sent check to original finance company. I called that company and was told they had to hold money till it cleared. Called again on 5/17/16 and they mailed check iday. During this time the amount I paid was decreased from what it should have been due to the time from purchase to time of cancellation. I lost $55 due to Kara not doing her job. Also during this time I made calls to Rob, Ryan Derbiano, and Ken Crowley who never once called me back or acknowledged my calls. I have filed complaints with BBB but since Crowley Kia is not a member all they will do is file a complaint. I have also filed a complaint with Richard Blumenthal the Attorney General of CT. I have also contacted the company that did the customer satisfaction survey that o completed when I purchased the car to either refill or change my survey because after dealing with this issue I will never purchase a car from them again.
