Had worked with Mike nine months back to custom order a AMG E class sedan. He retired in the meantime and Barry finished tracking the order thru and delivered the car. My wife and I had a good buying experience at Mercedes Benz of Hagerstown that was made seamless by Barry, Austin, Tony and Jeff. Below are specific items (pros and cons) that made the customer service great: PROS: (1.) THE INITIAL ONLINE CHAT: Jeff (Business Manager) quickly understood what I was looking for when I was on the website chat and he set-up an appointment plus followed up with an email with the appointment details, a link to an AutoiPacket with car details and the name and contact details of the Sales Consultant that I would be working with. (2.) INTRODUCTORY EMAIL: Barry (Master Certified Sales & Leasing Consultant) sent me an email introducing himself and let me know the items that I needed to bring if I wanted to do a trade-in. (3.) BEING WELCOMED AND TEST DRIVE: Barry greeted us in the parking lot and he already had the car brought near the building in readiness for a test-drive. He explained to us the route that we would take for a test drive. (4.) RESEARCH: I noticed that Barry did some research to better understand my trade-in, this was good. (5.) PURCHASE PRICE: We discussed quite a bit about the price and we were very happy that rather than doing the traditional back and forth scenario where the customer gives their preferred purchase price to the Sales Consultant then he/she goes to the Sales Manager’s office to discuss the price then comes back and repeats this motions over again - in this case after doing this once or twice, we requested for the Sales Manager to come and chat with us. Austin (Sales Manager) came and sat down and we were all able to discuss and agree on a fair price for both parties. (6.) TRADE-IN: We haggled on the trade-in price and overall settled on a fair amount for both parties. (7.) QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS: We had a list of 30 questions and we went through the questions with Barry and he gave us answers with a smile. (8.) REVIEWING OF FINANCING DOCUMENTS AND CAR REGISTRATION DOCUMENTS: Tony (Finance and Leasing Manager) was able to quickly go through the documents and we received explanations for what each document was about. In addition, he scanned all the documents and gave us both electronic versions and hard-copies in a neat folder. He also had a shredder to shred any extra copies of documents with personal information. (9.) FULL GAS TANK: Barry personally drove to the gas station and filled up the gas tank prior to delivery of the vehicle. (10.) THE EXTRA MILE: We were happy that Barry was able to delete all addresses on the GPS of the trade-in vehicle, he also transferred the license plates and license plate holders from the trade-in car to the new car. (11.) CHOCOLATE GIFT: We appreciated the gesture of a big customized chocolate box at the end of the buying experience. (12.) CLEAN FACILITIES: We noticed that the building interior, bathrooms and building exterior including the parking lot was very neat and clean. (13.) CHILDREN’S PLAY AREA: There was a designated play room for children that had colorful toys. (14.) WAITING AREA: There is a neat lobby with comfortable seats and a TV and a mini-kitchen for coffee etc. (15.) CERTIFICATES/CERTIFICATIONS: We noticed training certificates on the staff’s offices and upon inquiry they mentioned that they usually undergo continuous improvement training to ensure that they offer the highest levels of customer service. (16.) AFTER-SALES FOLLOW-UP CALL: After about a week, Barry called to follow-up if we were satisfied and if everything was ok regarding the car. CONS: (a.) At the beginning of the Sales conversation, Barry was helping multiple customers. It would have been great to have had his undivided attention i.e. serve one customer fully at a time. (b.) This spring there was heavy pollen and the car had sat on the lot for a few months, the inside of the engine had a lot of greenish-yellow pollen. It would have been great if the engine was wiped down prior to delivery of the car. OVERALL OBSERVATIONS: My wife and I had a wonderful and respectful buying experience at Mercedes Benz of Hagerstown and we would buy from them again if the opportunity arose. We highly recommend this friendly dealership for their sincerity and genuine passion to overdeliver and make the customer happy. Thank you to the team for your good work. More
