Last night I encountered a serious safety issue when my headlights failed to function properly. This problem arose immediately following a detailing service at Hyundai, which I have regularly used for rout headlights failed to function properly. This problem arose immediately following a detailing service at Hyundai, which I have regularly used for routine maintenance every six months. I originally leased a 2018 Elantra SE on 8/22/18. Due to COVID-19 disruptions, I was unable to lease a new vehicle as planned. Consequently, I purchased my current car on 2/2/22 and was promised complimentary detailing services for five years as part of the purchase agreement. While the service was satisfactory initially, I have experienced recurring issues with the headlights after each service appointment. Following the most recent detailing, my headlights malfunctioned. Specifically, the signal lever controlling the headlights is not working correctly: when engaged, it turns the headlights off instead of on. I was advised that repairing this issue would cost approximately $800. However, given that the problem emerged directly after the service, I suspect it may be related to the service itself. I was forced to drive home under unsafe conditions due to inadequate lighting. My research suggests that the issue could be resolved with a simple cleaning of the headlight signal lever, but this potential solution has not been acknowledged by the service center. I am concerned that the service center is not taking responsibility for the issue and am seeking a resolution. I request that Hyundai address this matter promptly and restore my vehicle to its proper, safe condition. 나는 어제밤에 아주 위험한 사고가 날 뻔했습니다. 지인을 만났고, 헤어질 시간에는 어두어져 당연히 헤드라이트를 켜야 했습니다. 그러나 작동이 안되서 아주 아주 힘들게 겨우 겨우 집까지 돌아왔습니다. 문제는 이렇게 시작됩니다. 나는 8/22/24(목요일) 8:00Am에 6개월마다 현대 자동차에서 서비스 해주는 디테일(차청소)를 하러 갔습니다. 그러나 지난번에도 그랬지만 이번 역시 똑같은 문제로 시간이 흘러 갔습니다. 나는 8/22/18(금요일)에 2018년형 ELANTRA SE를 리스를 했고, 코로나 때문에 차가 없다고 해서 기다리다가 결국은 새차를 리스를 못하고, 날짜도 좋은 2/2/22(수요일)에 지금의 차를 그냥 구입 하였습니다. 그래서 구입한 후로 5년간 디테일(차청소)를 해 준다고 하니까 예약을 하고 갔는데 나의 기억으로는 1번째, 2번째 까지는 문제 없이 서비스를 잘 받았는데 그 이후로 부터는 갈 때마다 똑같은 문제로 쓸 때 없이 시간을 허비 했습니다. 자꾸 Lease 날짜와 구입 날짜를 따지며 시간을 허비 했습니다. 시간이 흐르고, 결국은 구입 날짜로부터 5년이라는 확인이 되어 서비스를 받았지만 그 과정에서 기다리고 또 기다리고 해야만 했습니다. 그러나 문제는 거기서 끝나지 않고, 더 큰 문제가 디테일(차청소) 서비스를 받고 난 후 일어 났습니다. 서비스 들어가기 전까지 멀쩡했던 Headlight signal lever이 제 기능을 하지 않아 off에서 Headlight가 켜있고, On으로 하면 Headlight 꺼지고 해서 이것을 고쳐 달라고 하였더니 자기들의 잘못은 없고 고치게 되면 $800 정도가 되니 낮에도 Headlight를 켜고 다니라고 했습니다. 그래서 내가 말했습니다. 어떻게 서비스 들어가기 전에 멀쩡했던 Headlight가 서비스를 마치고 나오는 기가 막힌 타이밍에 딱 고장이 날 수 있느냐고 물어 봤지만 돌아오는 대답은 똑같았습니다. 그리고 시간이 더 지나고 나면 혹시 원래대로 제 기능으로 돌아올 수 있다는 말에 나도 동의하고 어쩔 수 없이 Puente Hill Hyundai dealer를 빠져 나왔습니다. 그런데 앞에 말했던 것처럼 지인과 만난 후 뒤 집으로 돌아가는 길인데 이번에는 Headlight 빛이 Low beam이 아니고, Daylight로 약하게 켜지고, 뒤에 Taillight는 앞에 Headlight가 켜져 있으면 뒤에 Taillight는 꺼지고, 꺼꾸로 앞에 Headlight가 꺼져 있으면 뒤에 Taillight는 켜지고, Hight beam도 작동이 안되서 Headlight signal lever을 잡아 당긴 채로 겨우겨우 집으로 돌아올 수 있었습니다. 정말 큰일 날 뻔 했습니다. 가까운 지인들에게 물어도 보고 인터넷도 검색해 보니 Headlight signal lever에 문제가 있고, 간단히 덮개를 open후 간단한 청소로 그렇게 어렵지 않고, 시간도 많이 소요 되지 않고, 쉽게 고치는 동영상도 보았습니다. 차청소를 너무 성실히 열심히 하다가 Headlight signal lever를 너무 강하게 돌리며 닦다 보면 실수로 고장도 난다는 것을 충분히 이해하고 그럴 수 있다고 생각합니다. 그렇다고 그것을 모른척 회피하고 손님에게 그 책임을 모두 전가 시킨다면 정당 하지 않다고 생각합니다. 현대 자동차는 고객을 소중히 여긴다고 하였습니다. 그러니 차 팔때만 고객을 소중히 여기지 마시고, 60000 mile 밖에 안된 상태가 아주 좋았던 나의 차에게도 신경을 써 주시고 다시 원래대로 원상복구 시켜 주시길 바랍니다. 정말 디테일(차청소) 서비스 들어가는 그날 아침 직전까지 Headlight는 아주 아주 직극히 정상이었습니다. 그리고 그날 예약 시간 8시부터 시작 된 하루는 기다리고 기다림 끝에 3시가 되어 끝나고 그날에 모든 약속들은 취소가 되어 개인적으로 굉장히 힘든 하루였습니다.
