Typical dealership service department; any excuse to steal your money.
Took a 2022 F150 in for warranty service because the bed camera no longer works. Tech took off the brake light housing, saw a previous dealership had installed a brake light flasher on the brake light wiring, and claimed that it was the problem and they couldn't fix the camera. The camera, which has a separate wiring harness from the brake light, was inoperable because the "3rd party equipment" caused the failure.
And then charged me $160 for the privilege of being blown off.
Turns out the camera is overheating in the sun, and will fail if it's too hot. When it cools down, it works again. Replacing it with a new camera fixed the issue.
**Updated:
Talked to Jeff the service manager and he was super helpful and confused at why the situation even existed. He promised they’d make things right and had the parts on order.
If the whole situation had gone this way from the start, this would be a 5 star review
