It’s almost like they intentionally named this place Five Star because that’s exactly what they delivered from a customer experience standpoint ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ x 💯‼️ After doing a lot of research on a new For Star because that’s exactly what they delivered from a customer experience standpoint ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ x 💯‼️ After doing a lot of research on a new Ford Expedition, I thought I was ready to head to a dealership and get it done. What I should have spent more time researching was dealerships, themselves. After spending all of Monday at multiple Ford dealerships in the DFW-area (Bob Tomes and AutoNation Frisco, to be specific) and coming up empty, I was bound and determined to not repeat those experiences on Tuesday. Tuesday morning, the last day of 2019, I was texting with the salesman and planning on dropping by. I had the pleasure of working with Kurt Stalnaker in the Internet Sales department at Sam Pack’s Five Star Ford (Carrollton) ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️. He was great! He’s personable. He listens to what you want. He’s not afraid to shoot you straight. He’s got no problem trying to get creative. Overall, he’s truly a great person whom you’d be lucky to work with. Now, part of having a great experience in any retail/purchasing experience is getting what you set out to purchase. That’s not lost on me. What’s great is that they weren’t trying to sell me something other than what I wanted/needed. They wanted to figure out how to make it work for all parties. If you’ve ever purchased a vehicle, you understand that it’s never just your salesperson you’re going to interact with. The great news, at least in my experience, was that everyone else I interacted with was, as we at Amazon say, “Customer Obsessed”. Others: • Alexandra “Alex” in the aftermarket and customizations department was as friendly, energetic, passionate, knowledgeable, and helpful as just about anyone I’ve ever interacted with in a retail environment. She hooked me up with some WeatherTech floor liners throughout, and she even had them in stock! Also worth noting, my Expedition had plenty of aftermarket touches before I ever found it online - that’s thanks to Alex! • R.J. is the GSM (General Sales Manager). He, along with the Mike Pisarik (“finance guy”) were instrumental in getting creative. Back story: my mom was the Guarantor on my previous loan, and she’d have to sign off on the trade. Challenge was that she wasn’t able to be there with me. What did they do? They sent a driver 1-hour+ out to Weatherford, TX to meet her and grab a couple signatures! That’s ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ service! • I’d be remiss if I didn’t acknowledge everyone else even though they had no involvement in my actual purchase. They were willing to just have conversations while the process worked itself out. I even got some congratulations from some of them a few hours after our little chat when they found out I was locking my deal up! •• CONCLUSION •• The long & short of this, before you just assume all Ford dealerships are created equally, do your research. It’s important to research: 1. The vehicle you want and the one you’re trading in - sure. I got my numbers from all of the following: Kelly Blue Book, NADA, TrueCar, and Edmunds. 2. It’s a close 2nd to research the dealership. Facebook, Google, Yelp, and even sites like Cars.com give good information on this front. 3. If you’re able, research your sales staff! I didn’t do a lot on this front, but I know Cars.com had individual reviews on the sales team if you wanted to inquire directly with them once your target vehicle is identified. My sales rep was extremely responsive throughout the negotiation process, and was very upfront the entire time. After coming to an agreement on the sale price, I traveled 5 hours in order to finalize the sale of the vehicle. Due to the distance, I hired a third-party transport company to have the vehicle delivered by to my hometown. The experience took an extreme downward spiral when the vehicle arrived a day after making the purchase and it had a small dent on the back end of the trunk. I pointed it out to the driver and he showed me the documentation stating it was damaged from origin. I contacted my sales representative who informed me that it wasn’t damaged before it left, however, he had no pictures of the vehicle before it was load on the transport truck or documentation validating his claim. I spent an entire week dealing with my sales representative, the transport company’s claims representative, and the driver attempting to figure out when/how the damage happened and all I ended up getting is each party blaming each other. No one was willing to take ownership or to resolve the issue. Being 5 hours away from either company, and unable to make the trip back to discuss a way forward, I felt helpless. The fix I was presented by Sam Pack’s was that I could purchase an aftermarket panel to replace the trunk panel that has the dent. I asked if it was possible to have an OEM panel paid for and shipped to me for install. Unfortunately, I was informed the part was $527 and that they (upper management) wouldn’t foot the bill. You’d figure that after spending a substantial amount of money on a vehicle that the dealership would do everything in their power to make the situation right. Especially considering they can’t explicitly prove the damage wasn’t on my BRAND NEW vehicle before it was transported. For a company that undoubtedly makes a significant amount of money, they provided one of the worst car buying experiences of my life over $500. I have attempted to contact upper management on several occasions, but keeping getting no answer or responses to my voicemails. My sales representative keeps saying his attempts to correct the situation fail because those with the power to make the situation right won’t. I have made thousands of purchases, but I have never left a review before. I would be cautious when dealing with Sam Pack’s Five Star Ford. They provided an amazing experience until something went wrong in which their care, attentiveness, and ability to provide resolve goes out the window. With the purchase of this vehicle my family is now a “Ford Family” in that all of our vehicles are Fords. I use to have pride in being associated with Ford, but after this experience that’s no longer the case. More
