Had to share my experience as it was pretty incredible. The guys at Oakbrook Toyota turned a bad situation into a great one that worked out for everyone! About 5 weeks ago I purchased an Equinox from t The guys at Oakbrook Toyota turned a bad situation into a great one that worked out for everyone! About 5 weeks ago I purchased an Equinox from the dealership. I worked with Gerry Arquines and Ben Swan. The sale was smooth and went well. The process couldn’t have been easier. After a few days we had to take the vehicle to the Chevy dealership because it was leaking wiper fluid due to a crack in the wiper fluid basin. Long story short it needed to be replaced but wasn’t covered under warranty due to damage they identified under the hood. We got the basin replaced but then soon after the check engine light popped on. At that point we started getting nervous as Chevy told us that the underlying issue was due to some damage from an accident the vehicle was in prior to us purchasing it. We gave Oakbrook Toyota a call and without hesitation Gerry had us bring back the Equinox for Toyota to take a look at. After having the service department take a look it was determined that the issue needed to be looked at by Chevy. Without hesitation Gerry offered us a loaner and had the Equinox sent to the Chevy dealership for them to take a look. There was additional damage/issues identified by Chevy on top of the problem that was causing the check engine light. Gerry didn’t want my family in an SUV with safety issues and with issues caused prior to us purchasing it. He was going to get the issues fixed for us which was amazing. When Chevy went to fix the car there was additional body damage identified which could have potentially impacted any sort of warranty or insurance claim down the road for us. This of course wasn’t the news anyone would have wanted to hear but that bad news didn’t last. My wife and I couldn’t believe what happened next as we were informed that Oakbrook Toyota would let us take the car back and exchange it for a different vehicle. Even though it may have been easier to just pass the vehicle back to us Gerry informed us of the new issues and that we needed to look at other SUV’s. We may not have known the difference but he decided it was the right thing to do. Working with Gerry and Ben we were able to trade in the Equinox this past Saturday and are now in a RAV4 that is amazing and that my wife feels safe driving our two little ones in. When I reflect back on what happened the main thing that comes to mind is that Oakbrook Toyota really values their customers and understands the “big picture”. The integrity, compassion and willingness to help my family and I though a hard situation has likely made me a lifelong customer. I don’t think the word “trust” comes up a lot in a car purchase discussion but I can “trust” Oakbrook Toyota and will be telling my friends, family and people I come across that your dealership is top notch when it comes to service, integrity, honesty and really just good people who are looking out for their customers. I would imagine that things would have turned out differently elsewhere but the outcome and process leading up to it really shows how great Oakbrook Toyota is. Couple final thoughts: - By doing the right thing Gerry and team gained a long term customer who will go out of their way to tell others how they feel about Oakbrook Toyota and what they stand for - We were really impressed with how easy the sales/financing process was.
