My visit and "Purchase Experience" was Outstanding with one exception, Product Familiarity. This is very common in Auto Sales, Furniture Sales and other Retail Sales where their products change every ye one exception, Product Familiarity. This is very common in Auto Sales, Furniture Sales and other Retail Sales where their products change every years and these changes usually results in Sales Associates having a very limited General Knowledge about their Products when they are initially released and usually become much more knowledgeable about the Products within 3-4 months of the Products being released. One item, for instance, was a "Locking Glovebox". I asked the Sales Associate how to lock & unlock the glovebox. He was not sure of how to lock it either and went to ask someone else for the information. Long story short, no one could figure out how to lock the glovebox. It was later determined that the Locking Glovebox was a mistake and should not have been mentioned since no Santa Fe had a Locking Glovebox. It took about 20 minutes to determine that there was no locking glovebox. I did not mind the wait since everyone involved was trying to answer my question about the glovebox. However, having a little more Product Familiarity would have saved everyone a lot of time AND it's mistaken inclusion in the Features List would have also been detected much earlier and the mistake corrected. As I said, with the one exception, everything was Outstanding! Everyone who was involved in this Sale was Friendly, Professional and were Genuinely Concerned that my experience was a positive one. This was the third new Santa Fe in the past 15 years that we've bought from Lithia Hyundai and we'll probably be buying a fourth vehicle from them when we decide to buy another new vehicle. In my opinion the Santa Fe is the best SUV overall and the Staff are some of the Best Professional that I have encountered. Beyond buying vehicles I also have all of my vehicles serviced at Lithia. I would not do this if they weren't better than other, more expensive garages. More

It's the small details that make or break the experience. There was a known defect problem (window frame crack and leak)that the sales guy said didn't exist then tried to claim was a seam when I came in and There was a known defect problem (window frame crack and leak)that the sales guy said didn't exist then tried to claim was a seam when I came in and saw it. And he never checked for a leak or he would have seen it. Water drips into the cab when doused with the water hose, then tried to claim I confirmed there was no leak because I never saw water at the dealership. No kidding. I did not witness a water test, so could not confirm until I tested for the leak at home. Here is where the bad taste starts: When the dealer add on's are BS and nothing but profit centers, it sours the experience. Still, I let it slide. I would have declined, but was told it was already applied "permaplate" for $500. Since the exterior plastic parts look weathered, and the truck had dried soda residue in various parts of the interior, I have doubts. Nitrogen for tires at $149.00. This is the worst of them all. Free at Costco, and you don't even need to buy tires from them. And after all that I didn't even get a full tank of gas! They claimed they don't have enough profit in the transaction to justify a tank of gas, but will give a tank of gas on a new car purchase. I indicated that it is common knowledge that used vehicle sales have a higher profit margin because their acquisition costs are in their control. They paid for that tank of gas with the BS nitrogen fill charge. More
