New car shopping for my wife. 4 years ago when she bought her last car at a different Herb Chambers dealership, the General Manager was very rude to my wife after the sale. After buying over 20 cars from Her her last car at a different Herb Chambers dealership, the General Manager was very rude to my wife after the sale. After buying over 20 cars from Herb's stores, I wrote Herb a letter telling him we would never set foot again based on the way my wife was treated. I have purchased six cars elsewhere since then, and have never stepped into one of Herb's stores. Yesterday due to low supply (Covid-19) my wife wanted to stop in the Lincoln store in Norwood, as they had the car in the color she wanted. Good to their reputation, she was once again talked to in a rude and condescending way by Jeremy, the General Sales Manager. I agree each dealership has the right to put any value on a trade they want. When we told the salesperson how far off the trade value was from other dealerships, the response from Jeremy was "well if you buy a demo with lots of miles, in a color you don't want, I'll give you more for your trade". Yes, we took that to mean that we should go dumpster diving out back and see if there is anything else we want in order to get more our car. A simple and polite "I want to earn your business but just can't go any higher on the trade" would have sufficed. So we made a mistake giving Herb Chambers another chance. We left, went to another Lincoln dealer, bought a car, and got the real value for the trade. More
