BMW of Westlake responded

Hello, when you came in, you stated there was a check engine light on, with no mention of the gas cap. You then signed for 139.00 diagnosis for the check engine light and our diagnosis found the gas cap loose. We performed a vehicle test with a battery charger connected to the vehicle and restored the fault for natural vacuum leak detection of the evaporated emissions system. We then performed a test plan to ensure the gas cap was tight and no leak could be detected and cleared the faults so you could drive back safely to South Carolina without an issue. We only charged half the quoted amount you signed, which was $70 - saving you 50% of the cost. If you'd like to discuss further, please call the service manager at 440-845-9333, Thank you.
