Overall, pleased with my new 4Runner. I had changed my mind on color and my sales rep quickly found a different one that I had in mind. I was caught off guard when going to sign the title that the vehicle I thought I was purchasing was actually a different one from another store. I only noticed from the vin # being different, but was never told up until that point that this was a different vehicle than I had ordered. Obviously, it worked out and I was still happy with the 4Runner, but I feel I should have been informed of the switch. I still am not sure of the circumstance of why this happened as it was never explained. In the end, I got the 4Runner and had a relatively good experience with Toyoda.
Extraordinary solution to a big problem - LLAUSTIN
My son's water pump went out miles from home on a busy stretch of highway. In an attempt to get himself and a friend safely off the road, the engine was badly damaged. We couldn't afford to replace the car, so the dealer proposed replacing the engine rather the more expensive route of rebuilding the damaged engine. I appreciate their sensitivity to our situation and the creative solution to getting our son back on the road.

Just had some work done on my Toyota pickup. when I got it back after they worked on it, it broke down with the same issue as before I gave it to them, they came and towed it again. After I got it back the second time the original problem was fixed, but the air box cover was unlatched and loose, and there was a random hose with clamps on it not connected to anything laying under the hood. They charged me for repairing a leaking tire that I didn't ask for. And last of all the inside door handle and steering wheel were covered with grease from the mechanic who worked on it. Service manager was pleasant and informative. Although hard to get a hold of whenever I called. But the mechanic or tech who worked on the vehicle was horrible. Also 69.95 for an oil change, even with synthetic oil, is extortion. I can do it myself for less than $25. Won't be going back unfortunately. They just got done with an expensive remodel of the shop and showroom. Could have used that money to hire better help.
They Don’t Seem to Care Much for their Customers - sambethune
I was in Ottumwa visiting relatives and saw a Toyota Rav4 on their lot that I liked. Sent an inquiry to the sales department when I got home and used the trade evaluator on the dealer website so I had some idea of what to expect for my trade-in. Didn’t hear from a salesman for two business days and this probably should have clued me that they weren’t interested in doing business with me. The salesman finally called me and I scheduled an appointment for the following Saturday.
After driving four hours to get to the dealer, I was told that he was “with a customer” and was shuffled off to the customer lounge. I waited around an hour and 15 minutes and decided I had waited long enough. On my way out ti my car I get aporoached by another salesman who says maybe he can help me. He demonstrates the Rav4 and then they evaluated my car. Their evaluation was over $2000 lower than the one I had received from the dealer’s website. Before leaving, the salesman wrote down my phone number and said he’d call back in a few days. I got in my car and left. I never got that phone call and worst of all, I had an appointment with another dealer to look at another car that I was late for due to the wasted time at Clemons. By the time I got to that dealer, the car had been sold.
This is NO way to treat a customer and I for sure won’t be wasting my time or my money with these people again!
