On June 17, I visited Toyota Direct for a routine oil change. During the appointment, the service advisor recommended a rear differential service, which I approved. I waited approximately two and a half hours before receiving my vehicle. The following morning, while driving several towns away, I began hearing a scraping noise. When I inspected the vehicle, I discovered that the oil pan splash shield was partially detached and dragging on the ground. This was both unsafe and extremely frustrating, especially considering the vehicle had just been serviced. I returned to the dealership, where I waited another hour. Instead of repairing the shield, the staff simply removed it and told me it "wore out with age"—a claim that does not align with the condition of the part or with my understanding of normal wear. They then offered to replace it at a discount. The service advisor also attempted to upsell me on a transmission service, stating that "transmission fluid quality went down after COVID," a statement that I found questionable and inconsistent with Toyota’s own maintenance guidelines. On the invoice for the service they indicated that the part was "secured" when it was actually removed and placed in the cargo area on my car. More
