I recently purchased a 2026 GMC Sierra 1500 AT4 6.2L V8, and unfortunately the experience with Dennis Dillon GMC has been unsettling and disappointing.
The process started off normally, but my frustrations began during financing. I have excellent credit (800+), a strong down payment, and a solid debt-to-income ratio. Despite this, I was never shown competing financing offers or told which banks provided which rates. I was only presented with financing through Frontier Credit Union. After the fact, seeing Frontier Credit Union promotional materials (“swag”) throughout the office makes it feel like customers are being steered in that direction without transparency.
The most concerning issue occurred after the sale.
Last week, I took my truck to a different GMC dealership for a routine oil change. During that visit, their service department informed me that there was an aftermarket GPS tracking device installed in my vehicle. I immediately unplugged and removed it.
I was never informed that an aftermarket GPS tracker would be installed. During financing, I specifically asked about a GPS locator because it added cost to the vehicle. I was told it could not be removed and that it came factory-installed from GMC. That statement was false. This was not a factory device.
The service advisor at the other GMC dealership told me they’ve seen these trackers installed on vehicles purchased by “high-risk” or “sketchy” customers to assist with repossession. That characterization does not apply to me in any way.
I contacted Dennis Dillon GMC seeking clarification. They initially could not even locate me as a customer — despite having my phone number, name, and VIN. I was told the Service Manager, Toby, would call me back within minutes to an hour. That never happened.
After calling back and insisting on speaking with someone, I eventually reached Toby, who stated he had no knowledge of the device and said it would be handled by the sales department. He assured me he would look into it. I have yet to receive a single follow-up or explanation.
This experience raises serious concerns:
- Installation of undisclosed aftermarket tracking equipment
- Misrepresentation of that equipment as “factory installed”
- Lack of financing transparency
- Poor customer records and follow-up
- Complete absence of accountability
I was polite throughout the process and even brought Starbucks gift cards for the finance manager and salesperson. That courtesy was not reciprocated with honesty or professionalism.
Buying a new truck should not leave you questioning whether you were misled or monitored without consent. I would not recommend Dennis Dillon GMC based on this experience.
