Eight years ago I bought an Outback at Grand Subaru and wrote a 5-star review; here I am writing another! Grand Subaru is a really good place to buy a car, an experience that in the past has made people, well, ME dread the dealership. About 6 months ago, I decided I wanted a new car. Another Subaru, but smaller. I started seeing the Crosstrek everywhere and finally contacted Subaru. Jeff Schade responded and was really terrific about answering my questions clearly and thoroughly. And when I went in for my test drive, he had the car I wanted, model and color, ready. I have been for test drives where I’m in the car for less than 10 minutes, but this was notable because Jeff directed me to various types of roads. I loved the way the Crosstrek handled, felt and accelerate. Afterwards, during the price part, I said to Jeff Schade, "Please don't make me have to come back with my brother-in-law or cousin," but that was just comedy considering how fairly I - and everyone else I think it's safe to assume - was treated. He laughed and immediately printed out the page referencing my specific car and wrote a price on it. No haggling, no upsell on what I wasn't getting (Harmon Kardon speakers). Before I went into Subaru, I had some conflicts - I have a very painful back so I needed the 10-way settings. I wanted some upgrades. I didn’t understand the mysterious terminology of "trim packages." Why call the really good package "Limited?" Again, Jeff clearly explained all that to me. And, guess what? The Crosstrek seat is really good on my back.
After Jeff and I were done, I needed to go see Chris Thomas about - I thought - financing the vehicle (which I wasn’t doing) and warranties. He DID have a list of warranties which I didn’t want, except for one, which I did. Chris was also a really genial and affable guy. He never said a word about financing so I am guessing that isn’t his field and if I’m right, thank you Grand Subaru for not pressing me on that!
This was the best car buying experience I have ever had and I really credit it to Jeff Schade and to Grand Subaru’s philosophy. They must be putting an emphasis on long-term relationships rather than short-term hard sells.
