I really wanted this to be a 4-5 star review since we ultimately did buy our car from Towne Ford. My husband and I had been searching for a used Kia Telluride when my brother found a 2021 low-mileage model at a good price on CarGurus. We called to confirm it was available and decided to head over.
We spotted the Telluride right away, and David offered us a test drive. We loved it, especially since it was nearly identical to our 2020 but with fewer miles. The listed price was $31,998, which seemed fair at first, but we quickly noticed that 3 out of 4 tires were cracked and needed replacement. David initially told us all 4 were new, but after checking, he admitted only one had been replaced. Since I've worked at Tire Warehouse and Pep Boys, I knew what I was looking at. We asked for $1,500 off to cover the tires, but they refused, so we walked away. After negotiating with David throughout the week, we finally reached an agreement.
When we came back Thursday to finalize the purchase, David was off, so Kevin assisted us. He was friendly and helpful, but the paperwork still dragged on for two hours. Bass, one of the managers, handled the final signing. To our disappointment, the car wasn't washed or filled with gas, something most dealerships typically provide.
The reason for my 3-star review is what happened next. We were told the vehicle had passed a full inspection and that all services were up to date, but as soon as we left, an alert showed the oil change was overdue by 1,200 miles. At first, I thought the sensor just needed resetting, but when I checked, the oil was dark and clearly not fresh. I called immediately, but since their service department was closed for the weekend, they promised to follow up Monday. No one ever did. When I called again, the phones disconnected multiple times, and when I finally reached someone (who never gave their name), they sounded irritated with me. No apology was offered, and I was simply told to take it to their local SpeeDee Oil Change. Since I was in Union City, I asked if I could go somewhere closer, but they said no.
This left me frustrated. I was told all inspections and services were done before a sale, yet that wasn't the case here. Between the misleading tire claim and the overdue oil, I don't feel I can fully trust this dealer. I do appreciate Kevin and Bass's service and the deal I got, but overall, my experience leaves me hesitant to return.
