Three weeks ago I purchased a b – VIN [JTJBM7FX1J5209288] – A Few Concerns After 97k Miles Dear Woodlands Lexus/ Gerson, I hope you’re doing well. Three weeks ago I purchased a beautiful 2018 Lexus GX460 from you with 97,000 miles for $30,xxx My family and I were very excited; it’s exactly the vehicle we wanted. After putting about 800 miles on it and getting to know the truck, I’ve noticed a few issues that I wanted to bring to your attention in case they were missed during the pre-sale inspection or reconditioning process. Specifically: 1. Rear windshield washer does not spray – the front works fine, but the rear sprayer produces no fluid 2. Suspension height is noticeably uneven • Passenger -side rear sits roughly ¾” lower than driver-side rear • Passenger -side front is about ¼” lower This is visible to the eye and measurable at all four wheel wells on level ground. 3. Engine idle fluctuates/hunts between ~500–700 RPM when fully warm in Park or Drive. It is not rock-steady at ~650 RPM like every other GX460 I’ve driven. No check-engine light is on yet, but the fluctuation is very consistent. I completely understand that a 7-year-old vehicle with 97k miles will need some typical maintenance, but I’m a little concerned because these items were not mentioned or disclosed before I purchased the truck, and I would have expected them to be caught in a 100+ point inspection (especially the visibly uneven stance and the idle issue) I’m not looking to “return” the vehicle or cause any drama; I actually really like the GX and plan to keep it for a long time. I just want to get these items corrected properly and make sure nothing more serious is beginning (air suspension leak, failing height sensors, internal engine problem, etc.). Would you be willing to take a quick look at the truck at your next available service appointment. I can bring it in anytime that works for your team. I’d really appreciate your help getting it sorted out so I can move forward with confidence after spending $30k with you. Thank you in advance for your time and for standing behind the vehicle. Our car was totaled so the need for another vehicle was imminent. But, if you have the opportunity to buy a "new" car, a newer Lexus, why would you make a quick decision? So we called Josh (his reputation preceded him) with our dilemma and gave him our spec preferences so he'd call us when the vehicle arrived at the dealership. It happened sooner than expected, and we actually missed a car that we had prioritized for hesitating. Josh was patient, yet used every conversation to share the benefits of buying from Lexus and worked with us to prioritize our list. His years of experience at Northside ~ that he has worked the dealership from almost every aspect ~ built confidence and respect for his otherwise "cut to the chase," no nonsense manner of speaking. He knows his "stuff!" The weekend we decided "it's now or never" Josh had one car that met our specs (except the color preference) and we left to make the 4-hour drive from North Texas to Northside. Josh met us at the car as we drove into the dealership. The car was beautiful. We were hard pressed to find a flaw in an almost 5-year-old vehicle. Then we learned the car was a one-owner vehicle, purchased and serviced exclusively at Northside. This was the perfect scenario for a buyer who loves the Lexus product, the Lexus brand and Lexus service! Josh knew his buyer, he knew how to appeal to our good senses ~ with relevant content. He left no stone unturned in explaining all aspects of the sale and introduced us to Doug in finance who drew up the paperwork in short time. While we bought a car that weekend, we returned home confident we made a good decision. Did we "steal" the car? (Don't think Lexus is going to let you do that!) But we drove away knowing we got a great value including an extended warranty and we received flawless 5-Star service. As for the color? We have learned to love it! More
