I drive 30 miles from Santa Monica to have my car serviced because after a few bad experiences with other dealers, I don't trust any other dealership with my 2019 XC90 T6.

Due to Santa Monica Volvo's larger selection (other dealerships seem to have an extremely limited selection) we were able to find the exact car we wanted, in fact we purchased an Inscription instead of a Momentum (our original choice) which was even better. We have a brand new Volvo and have had to take it in for a service on 3 separate occasions. In all cases, we had to wait weeks for an appointment and in each situation, they weren't able to get to our car on the scheduled appointment day. They informed us late in the day and we had to scramble to find (and pay for) a rental car so they could keep our car overnight. This is exceptionally inconvenient since we have a new baby and one car. I can understand an exception once but 3 times?! When I conveyed our disappointment with the manager, Dan, I was told we are only one of many customers and this treatment is acceptable. I’m shocked at how poorly we were treated.

Volvo is a brand known for safety and reliability and I am very much happy for buying my first SUV to be a Volvo and fortunate to have Steve to help me with the purchase and making the transaction as smooth as it should be during this period(COVID-19), especially having little kid with me and my wife during the visit.
Steve doesn't have the car in his inventory with options I am looking for, so to earn my business he went beyond what I expected to check the inventory at the Port near LA and was able negotiate with another dealer in Southern California who was suppose to get the Vehicle of my choice with no extra cost. We got car direct from Port with all the options and accessories installed at Port for less cheaper compared to getting them installed at dealer. I got the Vehicle delivered in ~2 weeks from the date I reserved it.
After completing paper work Steve explained in detail about car features and showed demo of few that are possible in the limited space of showroom and gave good suggestion how to take good care of lighter interior.
He is simply awesome, best of all caring and works hard to show value for your money.

I found a vehicle for sale at Carlsbad Volvo on a Tuesday. I spoke to Mike Shoemaker and informed him that I lived in Monterey and would not be able to fly down until Saturday. Mike not only agreed to hold the car for me, but he also picked me and my girlfriend up at the airport on Saturday. I was worrisome about flying down without seeing the vehicle, however, Mike took pictures and walked around the vehicle to ensure there were no surprises when I arrived. This dealership has no integrity at all. I was interested in a pre-owned Subaru Outback that McKevitt Volvo had for sale. After some back and forth via text with Akmal Khakimov, one of their salespeople, we agreed on a price. I asked them to send me the paperwork for the deal and asked how to arrange a deposit. Akmal said he would be in the next day and would send it over. The next day I did not hear from Akmal, so I reached out to him. He then told me they sold the car despite the fact that we had agreed to the deal and I had offered to put a deposit down. They completely wasted my time and lost a customer just to make a few bucks.

Initiated the process through the American Express Platinum New Car Buying Service and was immediately sent offers competitive with other cardirect and truecar numbers, which was real since they had a rarer color I wanted and would have to drive in from Oakland. Internet sales manager immediately tried to back of the guaranteed savings price sent through the Amex program, then had an associate get in touch to finalize and this dude ghosted me for 24 hours only reaching out after I declined the test drive appointment I had tentatively scheduled (I sent a detailed email stating I wanted all the paperwork and deal docs completed before I drove to San Jose so we are not inside for a long period of time given COVID and that type of process is anachronistic in the internet age. Overall I would avoid this dealer unless you want to pay European luxury car prices for a cheap domestic used car dealer experience.

I was there for repair service. I was quoted a price that was very high ($900) for the repair (which I know should cost around $600). But I left the car for repair anyway. I was thinking, I probably won't come back again. Upon completion of the car, I was told that the quote was high and there were parts that did not need to replace/repair as originally thought. My cost bill was reduced to a very reasonable cost of $600 without me asking.
Or course, the better will be that it was quoted right the first time because it could have driven business away.

I went in to get a recalled part installed. They refused. 1 1/2 years later, the fuel pump broke and the car was inundated with gasoline. They expected me to pay for the towing and were absolutely difficult to work with at every turn. I had to get Corporate Volvo involved in the process and they weren't much better to work with, to be honest. I had to threaten with a lawsuit and it wasn't until I got the name of the person to whom the legal papers were served that they took me seriously. I would caution anyone needing recall or warranty work done on their Volvo to STAY AWAY!!!! This is not the first issue I have had with their service department. They were asked to work on the handbrake while the car was under warranty. They sent me away stating that it was normal for a car to roll a few inches after the handbrake has been applied. Guess what? It isn't. Also, when I bought my XC-90, they were ready to send me on my way without the registration that goes in the corner of the window. I had to bring up to the manager why I didn't have anything showing that I had purchased the car - you know, the legal paperwork that police officers require you to have in the window. The manager acted like he was shocked that the salesman could mess up like that. And it wasn't like it was busy. We were the only ones there. Never again will I darken the doors of this dealership. The same owner owns Carlsbad Volvo and boy, could I tell you some stories I have heard about them. Stay away from both. There are other good Volvo dealerships around.

I have been taking my 2002 Volvo for service here for many years. Everyone is very professional, friendly, and efficient. Miguel welcomes me by name when I arrive. They were very accommodating to me when I required "special" time frames when having service done last year. I love the idea that my car is washed inside/out when any service is done, but still appreciated that they didn't offer that service during the drought.
