I worked with Giovanni in sales, Internet Sales Manager - dannyedgeworth
I worked with Giovanni in sales, Internet Sales Manager Sam and Financing with Patrick. I live 3 hours From Buford but found the truck I wanted and pursued through mostly digital communication. Giovanni is relaxed and knowledgeable of the vehicles on the lot. He answered most of my questions and helped me feel comfortable so that I knew what all was included in the truck.
Next was working to get a price from Sam. Giovanni told me I would get a call from Sam soon and even checked back to see multiple times to see if I heard from him. It was later the next day before I heard from Sam. Once Sam called, instead of giving me the out the door price I requested, he asked how much I wanted to spend or what I wanted my payment to be. Once that was discussed, he walked through the MSRP less discounts and rebates (all listed on the website) briefly mentioned Accessories but no price and then gave a lump sum number for taxes, license etc. One of the items was the DOC fee. The website clearly stated the DOC fee was included in the online pricing. He said ok, he would take it off but he couldn't approve that, he would have to take my offer to his manager. He left it up to me to provide an offer. I had to ask about the price of the accessories but was only given an approximate price in passing with no details of what those items were .
I gave an offer and included delivery and an additional part. Giovanni came back and said that the offer was too low because of the additional dealer installed accessories. I provided a new estimate and Sam said he would run it by the General Manager and came back with approval. I asked for a breakdown of the price which he sent quickly. DOC fee was listed, but my two requests were nowhere to be found. I quickly sent a screen shot of my requests. Giovanni called me the following day stating that they could include one of my requests but not both. That didn't sit well with me. I drove to Buford the next day and discussed this further. The part I requested was $250 MSRP plus installation. I asked Sam if he would sell me the part at cost, no installation. He restated my request for clarification and told me sell me the part at his cost if it were $100 or whatever. While I still felt like the dealership should just include the part because it was included in the offer and to preserve customer satisfaction, I felt like it was a reasonable offer to pay something.
I had to wait until the following day since the parts department was closed on Sunday to get a price. Giovanni called me back with a price of $240!! He asked parts and that was a discount they could apply. I explained that I didn't ask Sam for a discount, but to only pay cost. He said he went back to Sam and came back with the same number. That felt like a slap in the face. There is no way that the dealership pays MSRP for parts, that is ridiculous to even state. Ultimately, they didn't put much effort into this request.
Giovanni didn't seem to have any say so in any of the pricing discussions. It was all Sam's call or the man behind the curtain, the general manager. In my opinion, a small request of the dealership for a big potential gain in customer satisfaction.
Financing always takes time. It seemed like it took longer than it should, but it was not unbearable. Patrick was a pleasure to work with and seemed to get me out of there as quickly as possible.
Overall, buying the specific truck I wanted from this dealer was good but could have easily been better. I'm not sure what all happens behind closed doors but for those behind the salespeople who approve of numbers, they don't seem overly concerned about the customer's buying experience.
