Throughout most of my life, I have had many new vehicles from dealerships across the Western United States. When it came time for warranty claims, and other miscellaneous problems to be done, there’s just nothing like getting the runaround. That and being completely lied to, as they look you in your eyes. There, I am on the other side of the counter, just trying to keep my cool. A time that I don’t miss.
More than the majority of them, I have caught lying directly to my face. Which would include telling me, they had used OEM parts, and instead they got the parts from the cheapest available automotive parts store. They had know idea that my wife and I owned and operated our own shop, building, custom four-wheel-drive, and doing spray in bed-liners at the time.
From the first day. my wife and I took her 2021 Honda, Passport off the lot, Island Honda has one of the most trusted automobile dealership, that we have ever come across.
For the past five years, we have always greeted by someone with a big smile, and to now, calling recognizing us, and calling us by our last name, and sometimes even by our surnames.
That leaves a lasting impression, when people only see you too maybe three times a year, for general maintenance or recalls Honda. It truly makes you feel at ease, because when someone does do this, it makes you feel like they care about your vehicle, like it’s their own getting ready to be serviced. MAUI Island Honda, has some of the sharpest and knowledgeable technicians. They leave your vehicle cleaner than you brought it in. I will say, I do miss the days where Island Honda, used to give every vehicle just a quick wash and just vacuum the two front passenger areas, before you picked it up. I can tell you that, we did the very exact thing for our customers. When you go to any automobile repair shop, meaning dealerships or independent shops, to pick your vehicle up from being serviced and paying, what is most of the time, a high cost for repairs, ( you half to admit to yourself’s, that it is never a fun time doing that ) it is the most important lasting impression that you can leave with your customer. Any automotive shop, willing to do that, as a thank you for your patronage. Tell the customer, that the shop cared enough, and appreciated your business. Even almost more importantly, it leaves the customer thinking and feeling that the service shop has performed an exceptional service on their behalf of their vehicle. It is a huge boost in customer confidence, satisfaction and a sense of security in their vehicle.
It is kind of funny that, my wife and I would receive phone calls from customers telling us how grateful they were for that, almost for getting that they even had their vehicle's in for a expensive repair job. This is also a twofold issue, one, when the Technician does great work and no “return” problems, it becomes a win-win for everyone. Two, if there is to be a problem that needs to be addressed again, in the customer mind, they are a little less angry and more likely to have a good conversation with the Service Tech. or Service Manager. That sure beats the heck out of a customer bellowing at you, any day.
Now that I have bought up the Service Tech's in the above example, I would not want to leave the Service Tech department out. Island Honda, really has an incredible Service Team. They are very professional and knowledgeable. They are always polite and willing to listen to you, about your vehicle’s problems. They greet you with a smile all of the time. That and they always ask if you need a ride to work or somewhere. Or they will point you to the very comfortable lounge area.
They are also very important key to the last impression. It takes a person who is very good at communicating and understanding other peoples thoughts, and opinions about their vehicle. Especially with, having to explain to the customer why the repair is so costly.Or why, the necessary preventative maintenance needs to be complete.
