My wife and I traveled to Toyota of York. - drs1231
My wife and I traveled to Toyota of York. We were interested in looking for a new car. At the time the RAV4 was the model vehicle we wanted to test drive. The were no RAV4s on the lot. Steven, one of the salesmen walked up to us and introduced himself. We explained our interest in the RAV4. He showed one that had already been sold. Steven was a very nice young man who appeared to knowledgeable. He inquired about the kind fuel we wanted to use. I told him we were interested in gasoline. He encouraged us to consider a Hybrid and he went on to explain the benefits. We explained we wanted it fully equipped and my wife wished the vehicle color to be white. We also decided we would like the Hybrid model. Steve excused himself and came back with his supervisor. After further discussion we agreed on a 2024 RAV4 Limited which would have the features we were interested in. She explained due the high demand she would have to look for one explaining it would cost $500 to locate one and have it delivered. She left our location and returned with a list of vehicles. She said that she discovered that she is expected to receive the vehicle we were interested in from Japan. The 2025 models were not available yet. She gave us a window period for it to be delivered. We were directed to the finance department to sign the required documents. We paid over $43,000 cash. During this time the young man explained the benefits of an extended warranty. We agreed to purchase the extended warrant. The cost was nearly $3,000. We went home and awaited our car’s delivery. We later decided to decline the offer of the extended warranty. I called and explained that we changed our minds. There was no questions. He explained the check with the full amount would be mailed to me in approximately two weeks. Great!
Now, I was learning about what VIN numbers revealed. Out of curiosity I took a photo if the VIN number of our car. I was surprised to learn that our RAV4 was manufactured in Canada not Japan. Why we were told it was manufactured in Japan I don’t know. I guess she thought we would be more impressed. This is not a big issue but if I would be asked my opinion on buying a car from your dealership, I would have to explain my experience. My daughter has been interested in purchasing a Toyota. Her boyfriend drives a Tacoma he purchased at Lancaster Toyota. He works with someone he had purchased other Toyotas from. I will urge her to accompany him to Lancaster. I just wonder if I was told other things about our vehicle that isn’t true?
