Cornelius was AMAZING — five stars! - lreneew1120
Cornelius was AMAZING — five stars! He made my husband and me feel welcome and comfortable from the start. He was professional, communicative, and genuinely focused on helping us find the right vehicle for our needs rather than simply making a sale. He went above and beyond to ensure we felt confident in our decision. I highly recommend asking for Cornelius.
During our test drive, we noticed the front driver's side tire had a leak and the rear passenger-side tire had a nail in it. Cornelius immediately assured us the issues would be taken care of, and they were repaired before we took delivery of the vehicle.
Unfortunately, our experience after the purchase was much different.
The day after bringing the vehicle home, the check engine light came on after it sat overnight in our driveway. My husband used an OBD2 reader, which indicated an ignition coil 4 failure. I immediately contacted Cornelius, and we brought the vehicle back to the dealership.
When we arrived, we were told the issue would be addressed, and we were provided with a loaner vehicle. However, communication became inconsistent. After several follow-up texts, we received very few updates other than being told the vehicle was still being diagnosed and that we should not worry because the dealership would do the right thing.
Eventually, Dennis called to let us know the vehicle was ready for pickup, but he was unable to explain what had been diagnosed or repaired. Given our concerns, he invited us to come in and discuss our options.
When we arrived, the atmosphere felt noticeably tense. My husband asked whether we could simply cancel the deal and get our trade-in vehicle back. We were told that was not an option and that our only choices were to keep the vehicle or use the dealership's 7-day exchange program.
We explored adding a bumper-to-bumper warranty for peace of mind since I spend a significant amount of time driving for work. Our options were either paying approximately $900 upfront to add the coverage immediately or increasing our monthly payment by about $100 for coverage that would not begin for at least 60 days. Neither option felt reasonable, so we looked at alternative vehicles on the lot. We found one that was very similar to the vehicle we purchased, only to learn that we would need to bring an additional $5,000 to make the deal work.
Ultimately, we decided to keep the original vehicle.
What disappointed us most was our interaction with Dennis. Several comments came across as dismissive and unnecessarily sarcastic. He appeared frustrated by our concerns and often seemed unwilling to acknowledge them. Rather than helping us feel confident in our purchase, the conversation left us feeling uncomfortable and unheard.
While Cornelius provided exceptional customer service and was a pleasure to work with, the handling of our concerns after the sale significantly impacted our overall experience. If you're considering purchasing a vehicle here, I hope your post-sale experience is better than ours.
