Sales Excellent, Finance Poor, Pre-Delivery Inspection OK - Adam T
I purchased a 2018 Honda CR-V from LaFontaine a year ago (July 2018). The Sales experience was excellent, but the Finance Manager (who no longer works at the dealership) was dishonest and the PDI overlooked some items. I'd recommended buying from LaFontaine, but only if the Finance Dept can be avoided.
Sales (Ha Parrinello) = A-
Ha was knowledgeable, friendly, and helpful through the entire sales process. She was very responsive to calls, texts and emails and ensured that I got the best price out of all southeast Michigan Honda dealers. On the day of delivery she was very busy with many other customers (a testament to how great she is) which unfortunately meant a long wait time for me to receive the vehicle and some overlooked PDI items that she would normally have caught (and she later resolved, more on that below).
Finance (Corace Harlaque) = F
Vehicle was purchased outright so I only needed to review additional coverage with the Finance Dept. I bought Honda Care coverage based on Corace providing a dealer recommended service plan that indicated service should be done every 5000 miles, only to later find out Honda Care can only be applied when the vehicle's Maintenance Minder alert is displayed. I have only needed service once in the first 15,000 miles / 12 months, which means the Honda Care coverage was sold under false pretenses and was largely a waste of money. Shame on me for trusting the Finance Manager and not reading the fine print before buying the Honda Care coverage.
Pre-Delivery Inspection (PDI technician) = B
The vehicle did not have a full tank of gas upon delivery (which Ha later remedied by sending a gas card to cover the difference). Additionally, there was a very thin racing stripe that I requested be removed before delivery, and while the technician removed the stripe, some adhesive remained which required the vehicle to go back to PDI. Both the gas level and racing stripe should have been resolved by the dealership before I received the vehicle. Other than those two items, the vehicle was delivered as expected.

We bought our daughter a Honda at this dealership. The car was okay, but what ruined things for us was the cheap oil changes. Both my daughter and my husband (Subaru Outback) came here for oil changes. Both cars were made into doorstops, i.e. the Outback had a head gasket leak, but since Honda doesn't look and only changes the oil, the car was ruined because he didn't know about it. Same thing for our daughter's Honda, the car was rendered undriveable due to lack of oil in the engine and we had to buy a new car because replacing the engine was more than the car was worth. All this in the same month!!

Customer Service Approach that Contributed to GM Bankruptcy - L4 Engine Defect
I am referencing service related to Diagnostics - Invoice #: 506348. I am deeply dissatisfied with recommendations and poor customer service advising customers to continuously add oil to an engine with known defects / chronic problems by Service Rep. Randy Guitar. A permanent solution at no cost to the customer is the right thing to do for building long term customer relationships.
Hyundai's 4 cylinder engine in certain model year Sonata and Santa Fe's also has a manufacturer's defect and they have responded honorably to their customers by notifying them and standing by a promise to fix or replace the engine when necessary at no cost to the customer. Your dealership charged me a $125 Diagnostic fee and then attempted to "sweep this issue under the rug" instead of being honest about its existence.

I had an appt. for my air conditioning. About 10 after my arrival, I was told that "the air conditioning was not there and would be back next week." Why not tell me this before I came out there. I had to rearrange my whole day to make this appointment. Further, the AC was supposed to be under warranty, as the car is only 1 1/2 years old. I was told that since it had been in an accident, the warranty was not in effect.

When I picked up the vehicle without my husband, I was highly pressured by an additional sales person and another from finance. The sales rep asked me how long I had been married and said my husband wouldn’t divorce me if I purchased it anyway. Ouch!!!
First of all, I bought the car on my own without my husband. I’m a grown woman capable of making my own decisions. Second, asking me about my marriage was highly unprofessional. I was quite uncomfortable.
Should have walked away from the purchase. I had to make that threat to get the vehicle in my hands.
Bought the car from Troy, but he was not the person who finalized the sale due to a family emergency. I cannot remember the other rep who made me so uncomfortable.

Although Mitch is newer to Betten, he made every step seamless and provided excellent information regarding the vehicle. He was helpful, honest, and patient with my concerns and preferences. Despite my previous negative opinion of vehicle leases, I believe my positive experience at Betten Honda has changed my perspective. I don’t have a negative thing to say! Great team and service!
Alserra Honda : Wrong diagnosis. - Michigan
Unprofessional mechanics , heavy cost to fix the wrong parts; they said it was the struts , and inner tie rods needed to be replaced and after we replaced them nothing changed ! After all this have drained a lot of money to be charged on me for wrong fix then I took my vehicle away with the same problem I came with for the first time and figured out that was the lower control arm and then after I got to somebody to replace it the problem was gone .

My son has taken his vehicle here 2 times since moving to MI. Prior to that the vehicle was serviced at a Honda dealer in Minnesota. Page Honda has recommended unnecessary work like 1) Valve adjustment, even though the vehicle had Maintenance minder 4 service (inc. valve inspection) at the MN Honda dealer 6 months ago and the MN dealer didn't recommend valve adjustment (he told the service person this), 2) FIS (Fuel Induction Service), even though most cars don't need this (google it) and the MN Honda dealer has NEVER recommended this service to me over the life of several cars up to about 200k miles, and 3) this dealer doesn't let you select Maintenance Minder 1 (Tire Rotation) on their web site. They only have Tire Rotation and Balance, apparently so they can charge more money. The MN Honda dealer has never recommended a Tire Balance to me, and I've never done a tire balance except when the tires are new. Tom @ CarTalk says this: "By and large, tires stay balanced. And if the balance goes off for any reason, you'd probably know about it because the car would shimmy or vibrate, particularly at higher speeds." This behavior is unethical - avoid this dealership!

We've bought two cars from this dealership, and always get service done here. We've always been treated with welcome and respect. Before a repair is made I've always been advised of the costs, and asked if I wanted to continue. They've got decent prices, and we go here because the other Honda dealership in town basically made a doorstop out of my daughter's Honda with their cheap oil changes, but failed to notice that the head gasket was leaking because they didn't look. No notification, car was ruined. We only go to Fox Honda on 28th now, and have been very satisfied.

I traded in a 2014 Accord in November of 2016, as well as putting cash down. I am now nearing the end of my lease on an Awesome honda civil lxp 2 dr vehicle, that I love.
I just found the MSRP of $20,500. and looked at my contract, it states " Agreed upon Price $25500)- i didnt agree to that, i agreed to the msrp. Can you imagine going to the store and seeing a price of $500 for an item , and then paying $700.00 for it as if it was actually legal?
This is the second time i have literally been told one price, and charged another at a honda dealer, the first being Lafontaine in Dearborn.
What ever happened to Honesty, and not being swindled? a less than perfect credit score is never an excuse to change a cap cost/ or sales price because cost of credit is already higher. Ironically, my lease payments over 36 months are almost $15000, which, is $5000 less than the original selling price. Shame on Honda for buying in this contract.

This is an extension of the old car dealer stigma. I was lied to, had totally incompetent service. They could no alighn the rear wheels on my Pilot. I destroyed 2 sets of tires before they gave up and sent me to an independent who was astonished at the level of ineptitude. They are a GM dealer in Niles and have ectended that greasy haired white belt ethos. Avoid at all costs !
