It was 5 June 2025, and I was traveling from Huntsville, - David Beier
It was 5 June 2025, and I was traveling from Huntsville, Alabama heading to the Amana Colonies to camp with my parents and to also attend my 40 year HS reunion. I was 600 miles into my trip when my truck experienced issues in Hannibal Missouri; engine light came on and a message stating that my vehicle would go into low power mode soon. I was towing a 41 foot 5th wheel toy hauler which didn't make the issue with my 2019 Denali 2500HD any easier. I crossed over into Iowa and my trucks performance was rapidly declining; certain that I was not going to make it to my camping destination in Amana on the 5th. I pulled over and tried to remedy the situation on HWY 218 with no avail. I looked up GMC dealerships nearby and the Ft. Madison location was closest to me. I called and Kurt Jennings answered the call. I stated my issue and what the problem/issue was, Particulate filter clogged. He said to do my best to get to their location and he would see what he could do. He did have a diesel tech on sight working on another ticket. No promises made but this was the best I could do for the time being. Arrived early afternoon around 2pm and introduced myself, he instructed me on the best place to park my 5th wheel and where to bring the truck once I have disconnected. He received the truck and began to process the service ticket. I informed him that I have an extended warranty on the truck and he noted this when gathering my information. Gave him my keys and he took it from there. The diesel tech, Chandler Fullenkamp, took time away from what he was doing to look into my situation and then initiated a regeneration cycle on my truck to clear the particulate filter. In less than three hours from. the time I limped on to the lot for help, they had the code cleared and the truck back in operation allowing me to get to my destination before dark. There are Shottenkirk Delaerships in Huntsville Alabama which I do not have any dealings with since I do not own a Honda product, but I would hope that their service staff here in Alabama has the same work ethic and caring attitude as the GREAT staff I was fortunate to have assist me in my situation in Ft. Madison, Iowa. I cannot stress enough the gratitude that I have for Kurt and Chandler to go out of their way to get me back on the road on a moments notice. This Army Veteran salutes your service and says THANK YOU! Top notch effort and I will stop in again next time I am heading to Iowa to visit family to say hello!!
