The people are nice and helpful, but the inspection - irtodd
The people are nice and helpful, but the inspection process did not discover and address 2 major issues (leaky exhaust pipe rusted out with a JB weld patch held on with a band clamp, and a failing battery, which wouldn't start the car a day after buying it) with the vehicle that I paid to have shipped to this store. Was it really inspected at Carmax Wichita or was a previous inspection trusted, which was poor. The car had been at, and transferred to, three different Carmax stores, before I paid to have it shipped to Wichita, and none of them fixed these issues. And then having to wait over a week for an initial inspection of the problems after I took it to my mechanic to get an inspection to find the problem and showed pictures of the issues (to the Service manager). He informed me it would take another 2+ weeks to fix, which is unacceptable! The loaner car was appreciated, but wreaked of smoke. Based on these issues, I am not sure I will buy from Carmax again. I was treated like I should be happy with the situation because it was under the initial 10 day, 4000 mile warranty and I was given a loaner vehicle. True customer service would have been to immediately inspect the car and get parts on order. Again, the staff has been very kind and professional, but haven't done anything to expedite the resolution to these problems. I expected a much more thorough inspection. I got a list of things that were supposed to have been checked. Were they? My trust is very low based on what slipped by. And there was no report about what had been found during inspection and corrected. This is the kind of shady situation I have run into at local used car dealers which I avoid for this reason. Again, I expected a lot better from you at Carmax.
