BUYER BEWARE: Sold a Dangerous Vehicle & Treated Like a Criminal When I Complained
On April 2, 2026, I purchased a used 2024 BMW i4 from Acura of Valley Stream. That same evening, my dashboard lit up indicating the car had not been serviced since December 2025. The very next morning, I scheduled an appointment with BMW Main Line to address this.
What BMW found was alarming: the vehicle had been sold to me with 3 open recalls — meaning it was unsafe and legally should not have been sold in that condition. BMW had to keep my car to address them. During their inspection, they also discovered that 3 out of 4 tires were below the legal inspection approval grade — a serious safety hazard.
I called Acura of Valley Stream and spoke with the manager, Fari, to report these findings. His response was nothing short of disgraceful:
He accused me of lying and suggested I had the tires swapped myself.
He told me to "get another opinion" — and when I asked what the remedy would be if that opinion matched BMW's, he said "We'll cross that bridge when we get there" — and then, "Honestly, nothing."
He accused me of using this situation to negotiate a discount, referencing a prior call where I had tried to negotiate the price — as if advocating for yourself as a buyer disqualifies you from basic consumer protections.
When I requested their pre-sale inspection report to compare against BMW's findings, he told me he didn't have it — which raises serious questions about whether a proper inspection was ever done.
I was sold a vehicle with multiple safety recalls and dangerously worn tires. Instead of taking accountability, the manager insulted my integrity, offered zero remedies, and made it clear he had no intention of making this right.
This is not just poor customer service — this is a consumer safety issue. I urge anyone considering purchasing a vehicle here to demand full inspection documentation and have any used vehicle independently inspected before signing anything. Do not trust verbal assurances.
I will be filing complaints with the NYS DMV, the Better Business Bureau, and the FTC. No one should be treated this way after spending their hard-earned money.
