I am writing to formally express my dissatisfaction with - Kyriacos
I am writing to formally express my dissatisfaction with the leasing experience my wife and I recently had at Ramsey Nissan, located at 401 Route 17 South in Upper Saddle River, NJ 07607.
On August 26, 2026, when we signed the lease for our new 2026 Nissan Kicks AWD, the salesperson clearly told us we would not have to pay the remaining four months on our previous lease for the 2024 Kicks SR, which we also leased through the same dealership. Based on that assurance, we returned the old vehicle the same day and drove away in the new one.
To our surprise, a couple of weeks later we received a bill from Nissan Motor Acceptance Company (NMAC) for $2,133, listed as excess wear-and-tear charges plus taxes. At the time of the transaction, the staff accepted the vehicle as-is. No one informed us that the car required a formal inspection for wear and tear before returning it. Had we known, we would have repaired the minor damages ourselves for approximately $300, based on an oral estimate we already had. As for the alleged inspection, it was conducted without our consent or any notice of the date and time, and the so-called inspector decided that a few minor scratches would cost that humongous amount to repair, even though the car was in perfect condition.
We feel Nissan Company and the dealership were unprofessional, deceitful, and misleading. As older people unfamiliar with leasing procedures, we relied on the dealership’s staff to provide accurate information. Instead, we were left with a substantial, unexpected charge that proper guidance could have avoided.
We asked the Nissan dealership and finance division to review this situation and help resolve the issue, since the misinformation originated at the point of sale. So far, a month later, we have received no response from the dealer, even though we have sent them emails about our grievance. Being scrupulous people, we have already paid the charges to NMAC.
