Ladies Beware of this Dealership! - Emily L
Attention Ladies Beware! I was looking to lease the 2020 Toyota Highlander and since I was close to Milford I went to Colonial Toyota, big mistake. I had spoken to one of the sales managers named Erick Franceschini and he arranged for me to work with Dale S in sales. Dale was very friendly and I connected with her because she's around my age. She wasn't very knowledgable about the car but that was the least of my worries. I had planned on trading in my car and the dealership wanted to buy out my current lease to get me into one of their cars. I test drove the Highlander and loved it so I was open to hearing what deal they would offer. We discussed prices and the sales rep was trying to convince me that they were offering the best deal....until I pulled up the ad on my phone showing what they were advertising on 2020 Toyota Highlanders. I was interested in that specific deal so Dale took the next steps to discuss leasing the car. Next thing you know she came over to me with a paper that said I would need to put down $2,678 in addition to the advertised down payment amount for the lease and also my monthly payment would be $20 higher a month than the advertised deal. I said no way and being a sales woman she wanted to know how we can close the deal. I was confused on why the car payment amount changed if that was the deal, it doesn't make sense. We agreed on a number and then the process began. Keep in mind I got there at 2pm and left after closing. I've been to other dealerships let alone Toyota dealerships in CT and they have much better customer service. I went to finance and I met Eric Schars who was awesome, I have nothing but great things to say about him and my finance experience but after that my Colonial Toyota visit started to go downhill. I asked Dale the sales rep when I can pickup the car and she said I would be taking it home tonight. I was a little confused because the car was dirty and it hadn't been serviced or cleaned before being given to me especially with the Covid pandemic and other people test driving it. I knew that the service department was closed but I assumed that they would keep the car and I would pick it up cleaned and ready in a few days, but I guess not. The car has a grey interior and I noticed right away while moving my things from one car to the other that there were a lot of dirt stains on the seats, headrests and doors. I had mentioned this to Dale and she said I can have it taken care of another day. I also made a comment to the manager Erick F about it so he would be informed as well (I went home and cleaned the car myself, I was very disappointed). I had also mentioned to my sales rep about having a remote start installed but not by Toyota and I wanted to double check that it would not be an issue with the warranty or anything and she told me no it's not a problem at all. I had a feeling that wasn't the case so I called another Toyota dealership to check with them and they informed me it would in fact VOID my warranty...i'm glad I double checked. Thank god I called this other Toyota dealership, I didn't even get the car from them and they helped me. Also the other dealership walked me through all of the cars features, answered all of my questions/concerns and set up my Toyota Entune account which was never mentioned to me at Colonial Toyota of Milford. I was also informed that I had remote start already installed and I was told how to use it. I find this funny because I had reached out to the manger Erick F and he was trying to sell me the remote start for my car that ALREADY HAS IT, wow what a car salesman! Maybe this happened because I am a woman at a dealership "easy target". Also I informed Erick that I already found out I had remote start and I send him a text with my concerns and disappointment about my experience and guess what no reply...big surprise. So my advice would be if you're interested in leasing or buying a Toyota it would be in your best interest to keep driving past Colonial Toyota of Milford and make your way to the next closest Toyota dealership that's reputable. Do not go to this Dealership. You will regret it!

LOVED my Experience!!! - Dawn's New 4Runner!!
I went to Middletown Toyota and was met by Matthew, a General Manager, who ultimately steered me in the direction of my new (used) car!! I also worked with Liam, great guy - totally down to earth and entertaining! I found a fantastic 4Runner Limited with low miles. I got a great price and the truck has more options that I was even looking for. Toyota is awesome and this experience was awesome. I never felt that typical sales pressure (sorry guys but it can be true), I even got some extras when I asked! I will be going back to help my son get Toyota soon!
Overall it was a GREAT experience!!!

Nothing is too much trouble for their customers. Customer satisfaction is obviously a number one priority for these employees.

The best service I’ve ever had! Amir, the salesman who helped me when I first arrived was so incredibly helpful. He took each of my concerns into consideration and went above and beyond to make sure I was happy. Jose made sure it was possible for me to get the car I wanted. I had many problems with my payments, credit and was really struggling to get the down payment amount. These guys went so out of their way to make it happen! Seriously the best service I ever had. Not only did they help me financially make things happen, they also were just genuinely some of the nicest people! James was very kind and consoling when I was stressed and upset about money. They did not push or make me feel pressured into any deals. It was all about what I wanted. You don’t find that much at a car dealership! I highly highly recommend this place!!

Great dealership. - LisaH
Great dealership. I have purchased to siennas from this dealership, used, and both were great prices for great vehicles. As much as I have always been warned about having work done at the dealerships, Dowling Toyotas prices have always been reasonable and work impeccable.
Mike Needs to Take a Hike!! - Unhappycustomer
(I did send this review to the dealer and all of their top management and NO one even reached back out to me. Clearly, customer service is not a priority here - Stay AWAY!!!)
My recent experience at Girard Toyota started out so well and then I had to deal with the Finance Manager, Mike. This is a gentleman that clearly did not want to be at work yesterday. Honestly, management should show this fellow the door or require him to attend some customer service training before he steps foot in that dealership again. While everyone is under stress with Covid-19, providing excellent customer service should be a top priority. . The car buying business model is changing and if you are not riding the wave of change you are under it. This was my first interaction with this dealership and not surprisingly my last. In what should have been a happy moment, I was yelled at and brought to tears. I wanted to tear the paperwork up and leave but could not face starting the process over again. I probably should have: why would I do business with a company that employs such a poor representative of their brand and now I have such a negative feeling toward that dealership. I have bought multiple cars and usually, the piece with the finance manager is the easiest. You sign the papers and leave happy. This interaction just left me angry and anxious to get out of there. The craziest thing is that he was yelling at me over something that the salesperson offered to do for me. We live about an hour away but, they had the car I wanted so I made the ride. The salesperson was nice and helpful. I knew what car I wanted so I did not need to be "sold' and they respected that. However, it ended up that I needed my husband to co-sign. My salesperson told me to bring his license down and then offered to have someone bring the papers up to my husband so he did not have to make the trip down. This was something that the sales manager offered, I am not some diva expecting them to drive up the paperwork. I was actually really impressed at that point with the level of service. The finance manager did not like that idea at all and said it would be weeks if we did it that way. He told me they have runners but, they are busy with other things. Again, another point where I should have left. Clearly they are too busy for my business. Then the finance manager goes out and argues with the salesman about the paperwork. I can hear them arguing and was just sitting there. The finance manager comes back and angrily tells me my husband has to come down today or I am not getting the car. Again, I should have walked out. I asked the Finance Manager why he was getting so angry at me when it was the salesperson he was mad at? Thankfully the general manager came in at that point to help diffuse the situation. He asked if I wanted to work with someone else and while choking back tears of anger and frustration I said yes. What I wanted was to leave. The worst part is that I could still hear the finance manager going on about how he was right. It was a totally bizarre situation. So I sat there for an hour waiting for my husband. They did give me a key chain so I guess I should be happy with that.
