I witnessed a disturbing incident in parts department at Sun State Ford on February 19.
While I was attempting to purchase parts, I was being assisted by an older employee when another staff member behind the counter began yelling aggressively at him. The behavior was extremely unprofessional and escalated to a level I have never seen in a place of business. The situation was loud, confrontational, and uncomfortable for customers present.
I waited for a member of management to intervene, but no one came forward to address the situation. I could hear laughter from the back area, yet there was no visible attempt to assist or de-escalate the employee’s behavior. The individual appeared to be in his mid-to-late 20s and was verbally attacking the older employee in a manner that was alarming to witness.
Another customer near me commented that the aggressive employee smelled strongly of marijuana and appeared to have residue on his clothing. I cannot confirm this personally, but his behavior suggested he may not have been fit for duty and may have been under the influence of something else as well. At one point, I believe I heard someone refer to him as “Jose”.
The entire interaction was unsettling and reflected poorly on the standards I would expect from a dealership representing Ford Motor Company.
As a result of this experience, I chose to leave without making my purchase and instead traveled to another dealership approximately eight miles away.
I hope this matter is reviewed and addressed appropriately so future customers do not encounter a similar situation.
