We traveled from Iowa to purchase a Rivian R1T. We are very happy with the truck and JP was terrific to work with. As we were assigned to a new finance person that had never processed an Iowa buyer, this process took a lot longer than it should have. We were on a tight schedule to return home and in fact this caused us to late returning for a prior commitment. Overall, it was a positive experience and we would recommend Castle Hyundai.

This is the worst service experience I have ever had. They took my car for a repair, and after ordering an incorrect part several times, ended up keeping my car for 5 months until fixing it. At the end of the time, we settled up with a bill and I confirmed this was the full charge, which was nice, because they had reduced the charge, which seemed like a good customer service move. Days later, I get a call that they had a system issue and forgot to bill me the full amount. This is after letting my car sit outside for 5 months, being consistently rude over the phone, and repeating the same action that resulted in the wrong part over and over again throughout. Do not become a victim of their incompetence, they had the nerve to blame me for not asking why my bill was so much less than expected, with Bret the Service Manager saying "both sides were at fault" there. Forgive me for assuming they made a wise customer service move to preserve a customer. I even told the cashier they had saved a Hyundai customer with this move! I wouldn't consider buying a Hyundai ever again in my life, and while it may just be this dealership, their interactions with corporate and Hyundai processes indicate a huge gap in oversight from management.

Zach was very good to work with and made the experience much less frustrating. My only issues had nothing to do with Zach. Firstly - you should take the "pre-purchase" off of your website. I spent a lot of time scanning and uploading documentation under the idea that this would save time. Your staff knew nothing about the documents and essentially I had to do the whole thing over. Making my "pre-purchase" a waste of time. Secondly - instruct your staff to allow potential purchasers to take the test drives on their own. I'm a responsible adult. I don't need someone narrating in the back seat. It's also distracting and makes it difficult to hear the vehicle and determined its condition. Lastly - while I understand that you make up some of your margin with the vehicle protection sales. Stop with the high pressure as we're closing the deal. Your customer has likely already been there for a couple of hours. Ask once - maybe twice and then let it go. My overall experience was good and I would recommend the dealership. But if you want to set yourselves apart - consider dropping some of the typical dealership tropes. If you're going to call yourself a "one-price" dealership - then trying to slip in a bunch of unnecessary add ons shouldn't really be a part of that (windshield protection? Come on...) Thanks for a good experience. Especially from Zach.

Our experience with Gerald Hyundai has been beyond frustrating, and I would strongly caution anyone considering buying a vehicle here. We purchased two brand-new Hyundai Santa Fes from this dealership. The first one had so many problems that it ultimately had to be bought back. You would think that would be the end of our nightmare—but unfortunately, it wasn’t. Our second brand-new Santa Fe spent 10 months in the shop, during which the transmission had to be replaced. While the vehicle was being repaired, we were provided with a rental car. After finally getting our SUV back, it immediately started exhibiting the same dangerous issues—hard slamming, jerking, and failing to accelerate properly. When we returned to Gerald Hyundai, General Manager Mike Chino refused to provide another loaner vehicle, complaining that it was “costing him money.” After everything we’ve been through, that response was unbelievable. We were also told that only Hyundai Corporate could authorize a loaner. Our attorney later confirmed with Hyundai Corporate’s attorney that this was not true and that Mike had the authority to provide us with a loaner vehicle but chose not to. Perhaps the most concerning part was when we asked whether the vehicle was safe to drive. Mike refused to put anything in writing or even state that the vehicle was safe. His response was, “I can’t do that.” If the General Manager won’t stand behind the safety of the vehicle he’s asking you to take home, what does that say? The lack of accountability and customer service throughout this entire experience has been shocking. We’ve spent months without our vehicle, dealt with repeated mechanical failures, and have been forced to involve attorneys just to get answers. Do yourself a favor and think twice before purchasing a vehicle from Gerald Hyundai. Based on our experience, this dealership has been dishonest, unhelpful, and incredibly difficult to work with. We expected support after spending tens of thousands of dollars on two new vehicles. Instead, we’ve been met with excuses, misinformation, and a complete lack of concern for customer safety.
