Best car buying experience yet! This is the first car I bought from Hall Toyota Elizabeth City and I will 100% being going back when it’s time for another purchase. I called the dealership and spoke to Mike Knight Saturday morning to make sure the 4Runner was still on the lot. He wanted to set eyes on it so he checked and called me back within 10 min. I told him I’d try and make it up there that same day in the afternoon. I got there that afternoon and Mike already had the keys pulled and we went on a test drive. Loved it and said I’d like to trade in my car and buy it. Steve Fletcher the manager gave me an amazing deal on my trade in. The best part of the whole experience was that they were not pushy AT ALL!! Didn’t speak over me. Didn’t do that normal car sale haggle you have to deal with. I felt comfortable enough to send my husband on his way and I handled the trade in, purchase etc. Not a lot of women feel comfortable walking into a dealership and handling it all on their own but Mike, Steve and everyone at Hall couldn’t have been more helpful and nice.

I spent a month educating myself through Kevin Hunter, Chevy Dude, and Your Auto Advocate on YouTube. I was amazed to see that there were no bogus fees or tactics done with Jesse. It was quite refreshing.
Jesse is not pushy, allows for private conversations, willing to work on price, and applies no hidden fees. Actually asked us how much down and how many months I'd like to finance for instead of suggesting 84 months at $0 down or saying "what would you like your payments to be?" He followed proper safety measures during COVID-19. He is personable versus getting you out the door in an hour.
If you are from out of state, they have built in free lifetime oil changes into the overall price... be sure to negotiate that off the overall price. I had gone to 4 other dealerships prior to Fred Anderson and they were all rude, pushy, controlling, and demanding. I never felt that for one second with Jesse.
The finances department was not as transparent so go in prepared! Have a pre-approval letter from a bank of your choosing before going in. The reason is that the financial guy we worked with (Josh) will claim to have run your numbers into their system that will pull the lowest interest rate. That was not the case.
He pulled 5.99% (credit score was 846). When we asked him to look at our letter, he claimed it was not valid for this specific vehicle (VIN needed), though it was for the same amount and stated "used car sale". Puzzled, we did say while laughing "this seems like a crock of xxxx"(probably could have said something else but that's what came out).
We asked him to run it again with the bank we had a letter with and 30 seconds later... it was 2% lower. He remained unapologetic instead told us about his military background and how he takes his work and image seriously.
He also claimed if we used our bank instead of them, there was a $500 penalty (first time ever hearing that). Lastly, he stated you can only put 5K down on your credit card because they have been burned in the past with people cancelling the payment and getting a free car? When we asked him to ask his manager, he did... was gone 8-10 seconds, came back, said no, sat back down. Seemed fishy.
Josh was confrontational, stubborn, and unapologetic for making a mistake that would have netted them thousands.

I took my 4Runner here for a routine service.... I was told that I needed a power steering rack replacement. This was quoted at $1,500!! I was told that my 4Runner would not pass inspection without it. I took my car to a local auto shop for a second opinion... without knowing anything other than the make and model of my car, the mechanic asked me immediately if it was Mark Jacobson Toyota that told me I needed a new rack. I was shooked and of course said, yes! Then proceeded to tell me that they have gotten SEVERAL female customers who have been told they need to replace the whole power steering rack when they DO NOT. After taking a look at my 4Runner the mechanic found that I did NOT need to replace my power steering rack. I only needed to replace the hose ($300 with installation). This auto shop was kind enough to show me where the leak was when the car was lifted at the shop... it was clearly NOT the rack. I will never trust Mark Jacobson Toyota again nor will I ever give them any business again. Taking advantage of people during a tough time... pathetic!

The Used Sales manager tried to sale us a Dodge Durango and we told him and the salesman, NO!!!!!!!!!! We told them that we do not trust Dodge and we refuse to buy a Dodge. They was trying to low ball us on our Van and so we went to a different dealership.
The other dealership that we went to they gave us way more than what I was expected and they gave us a vehicle that we wasn't expecting.

Modern Toyota of Boone negligently inspected the frame on my 2007 Toyota Tacoma. I took my Tacoma to the dealership to have the frame inspected and if it had been properly inspected, it would have revealed corrosion that would have been covered by an extended manufacturer’s warranty at that time. Due to the negligent inspection I did not discover the rusted frame until after the expiration of the manufacturer’s extended warranty and they have consistently refused to be of assistance. I would advise people to avoid this dealership.
