Hi from California! We made the trip all the way to Detroit to take ownership of our beautiful XC90, the deal was simply too good to pass up on!
Once we got serious about moving forward, we connected with our sales representative, Mathew. From start to finish, he truly went above and beyond to make sure we were taken care of and that everything went smoothly. Shortly after, we were introduced to Carl, the sales manager, who helped secure the deal. He made sure we fully understood every detail and walked us through the numbers thoroughly, so thoroughly that I had to stop him a couple of times, haha. But hey, that’s his job!
There was a bit of miscommunication toward the end regarding the final pricing, but it didn’t deter us at all. Whether it was a simple mistake or an upsell attempt, we understood it’s business, and that’s how dealerships operate. For anyone looking to get a great deal, just make sure you do your research and know exactly what you want and what you’re willing to spend. That said, Carl addressed our concerns quickly and resolved everything right away, which only reinforced that we were working with the right team.
Next, we worked with Raven, who handled all of our paperwork. While there was a little initial pushback, we were very appreciative that everything was completed digitally. Since we needed to drive the car back to California within two days for work, this was incredibly important to us. Raven really came through, she even came in on her day off to make sure everything was finalized just as promised. She absolutely crushed it.
After everything was completed, we flew out to Detroit and finally met the entire team in person. Honestly, they were some of the most genuine people we’ve ever met. We never felt the kind of pressure you typically get at dealerships, at least compared to our experiences in California.
There ended up being a delay due to an issue with the car, but we honestly weren’t bothered by it. The reason was simple both Carl and Mathew were completely transparent and even owned up to their own mistakes without us even asking why. That level of honesty made them feel human and relatable, which mattered more to us than the delay itself. Things happen, and we appreciated how upfront they were about everything.
Overall, this was a great experience. The team at Suburban Volvo truly delivered, not just on the car, but on the entire experience of coming out to Detroit!
