My Review of Feld Toyota:
I purchased my Corolla from this dealership and it was the worst experience of my life. At the time my credit was less than sterling but I thought I'd see what I could get on a new vehicle anyway. I met a salesman and we looked at the Corolla and I chose that vehicle. We talked financing and after the finance department ran the numbers he said we could do 10%, (good deal for me at the time). The salesman mentioned in passing that the finance director wanted to charge me 14% but they got it down to 10%, I advised him if the price was 14% we wouldn't have a deal.

The salesman also told me I'd be receiving free oil changes for the first year which I thought was a decent incentive.

I met the finance manager and he told me he would sell me an extended warranty; I'd never heard of these before but it sounded like a good deal, (we never discussed the price as I was quite naive at the time). I specifically told the FM that the vehicle has a 3 year warranty already so a four year extended warranty didn't sound like that good a deal unless that warranty started AFTER the 3 year warranty elapsed. The FM told me the extended warranty DID start after the vehicle warranty so I included it in the price.

I received the contract, the FM told me the details included the agreed upon 10% price and the extended warranty. Like a fool I signed it without thoroughly reading it and went on my way with my new vehicle.

Soon after I learned I'd been suckered by some fast talking con-men.

First, I took the vehicle in for the free oil change and was told my vehicle didn't have a free oil change program; I mentioned this to the salesman and he blew me off saying he never said that.

Second I found out I was actually charged 14% instead of 10%. Again, I claim full responsibility for not reading the contract, but I don't consider these guys fast talking me into signing the contract to be very reputable.

Third I found out the extended warranty cost me $7,000 or so extra, and actually DID go into effect the moment I bought the car, so in actuality they sold me an additional one year warranty which cost nearly 40% of the sales price!

When I asked the salesman about this he blatantly told me the price was always set at 14% and that the extended warranty program started the moment I bought the car and that I was simply mistaken. It was obvious I had "mark" or "sucker" written on my forehead as they played me like a cheap violin.

I cannot stress strongly enough how crooked these characters are; do yourself a favor if you live in the South County area and find yourself another dealer and do your research first.

My Review of Feld Toyota:
Initially visited this dealership on 03/05/09 which is now doing business as Weiss Toyota at same address as Feld Toyota. Looking to replace a Tundra truck which was totaled in Dec. 2008. Greeted by sales rep who was inordinately vocal with regard to the "buy a car today" mentality which typically is the prevailing posture presented by struggling sales entities. While naturally annoying but relatively simple to disarm a price was offered for a 2008 4Dr SR5 Tundra. Scurrying off to submit my offer for approval and returning without the ok I was advised that they needed 1/2 of 1% above my offer to sell. I responded that I understood and would give it some consideration. As I got up to leave I was asked to hold on and let the sales rep's boss come out and say hello. I said ok and looked thru a couple of sales brochures - after about 5 minutes no one returned so I simply left. Shortly thereafter I received a telephone call by the sales rep who presented a "surprised that I left" line and informed me that he talked to his boss again and got the ok to sell the truck for what I had offered. I asked for a detail of the vehicle be faxed to me along with that of an 09' model that I had expressed some interest in. I received the detail of the 08' but not the 09'. I received another call asking me to call and confirm receiving the fax. I did and also asked again for the 09' detail. The response was > "I'll see what I can do"...
A few days later I received a VM from the sales rep advising me to call if I still wanted to buy the truck. 3 days later, I called to arrange a time to bring my wife in to see the truck with the intention of purchasing and was referred to another sales rep by the initial sales rep. Upon arrival and after 90 minutes of the typical posturing, test drive and presentation of the sales quotation I advised rep #2 that the price that I was advised was a go by illustrious sales rep #1 was not what he had entered on the sales quotation. He scurried off to his boss for approval and returned with the following > "We cant sell the truck for that price now because when it was quoted previously we had 6 and now we only have 3 (Which is false as there were 4 on the lot and one in the rear lot prep area when I visited the dealership a day prior. None the less, after gargling through a presentation of how much money they would lose ($240) they were not able to complete the sale. Oddly enough Sales rep #1 quoted a loss of $1400-$1500 when responding to my initial offer 7 days earlier.

The result - Naturally a "no sale" - While only 1/2 of 1% of the agreed sales price, the principal of the experience overrides the perceived value of the vehicle. Fact being there are many reputable dealerships that stand behind their word and conduct business in a professional manner. Obviously that is not the experience presented in this instance by Weiss Toyota. While I am not able to attest to the presentation and performance of service provided after the sale by Weiss Toyota, if it mirrors the Sales Dept. presentation and performance that I experienced, I would certainly forewarn any potential clients of Weiss Toyota not to waste their time, as this entity, in it's 2nd year of operation exemplifies a much less than admirable sales protocol as presented during our March, 2009 interaction. In this consumer's opinion Weiss Toyota may prove to be the Poster Child for a "Disgrace to the Toyota Family Award". But that is just the opinion of one who has owned 4 Toyota products over the past 20 years and is naturally elated to see the competitive Nissan, Ford and Dodge truck products on the market. As the appeal and value of any product is a direct function of the measurable culture of the manufacturer as presented by their direct representative (Dealership) this experience speaks directly to the value of the product line to the consumer. The beauty of capitalism and competition, as illustrated by this experience from a consumer's point of view is that, as consumers, we are able to perpetually and actively Advertize For Free based on real-time experiences !!!!

My Review of Feld Toyota:
This dealership is the one that drove the deal to my recent Prius purchase in St. Louis. Their first quote was at invoice, and their second (independently) matched the best price I got in the metro area. For those that live in south St. Louis, you should definitely talk to their internet sales guy. He was courteous and professional, constantly spelling out exactly what was going on. The only reason I didn't buy from this dealer was that a dealer closer to where I live (and that I'd had a prior good experience with) offered at the same priice as Feld. Whatever you do, make sure to get a price quote from this dealer, if for no other reason than to drive a better deal elsewhere.
