My Review Of Koby Subaru:
My wife and I have bought three cars from Koby Subaru: Two new Subaru Foresters and a used, but pristine, ultra low mileage Miata.
Our 2006 Forester now has over 95,000 miles, and we have not had any problems with it. It's the first and only car I've ever owned that could go so many miles without any problems. Based on past experience, I consider the 2006 Forester to be the best car I have ever owned, and I have owned about 25 cars over the years. When we bought the 2006, it was possible to buy pure gasoline, without any ethanol. At that time, our gas mileage ranged from about 23 to 32 mpg. Gas mileage has declined about 2 - 3 mpg using gasoline with 10% ethanol (that's the fault of politicians; not the car). In any event, our 2006 Forester gets very good gas mileage, considering its size and its all wheel drive. On many occasions I have driven the Forester to some land on a mountain in north Alabama. The dirt-clay road is rocky, rough, rutted, very steep in some places, and slippery when wet, but the Forester never failed me. I even drove over a tree that had fallen across the road. The tree was about 6" in diameter, but the Forester, with nearly 9 inches of ground clearance and all wheel drive, just climbed right over the tree. We have traveled with two dogs in the back of the Forester - a German Shepherd mix and a Rottweiler mix. The dogs had plenty of room, and they loved riding in the Subie. Regarding power, our Forester is equipped with the standard 170 HP engine, and it has plenty of power for navigating through Atlanta traffic, which can be scary, if not terrifying, at times. Once, I used the Forester to pull a giant extended cab Ford pickup truck that was stuck in the steep gravel driveway to our cabin. Subarus are amazing!
Within the last week, we bought a new 2014 Forester. It is remarkably quiet and comfortable, and the stereo system sounds great with classical music. The highs are crystal clear, and the bass is substantial, even though the system does not include a subwoofer. The new Forester is rated at 32 MPG highway, which is really excellent. I will not be surprised if it gets even better gas mileage on the highway if driven moderately and thoughtfully. If our new Forester is as reliable as our old one, it will be a superb investment.
We bought both Subies and the Miata from Guy Keane, who is probably the best car salesman I have ever dealt with. By "best," I mean that he is very knowledgeable, competent, patient, and he is not a "high pressure" salesman. I really dislike high pressure salesmen, and I have walked away from quite a few of them at other dealerships over the years, but dealing with Guy has been a pleasure. I have found the service department to be exceptionally good, and the service manager, Erin Bauer, is very knowledgeable and a delight to deal with. Other Koby employees have been very nice to deal with, and I actually look forward to visiting Koby Subaru and chatting with the employees.
Regarding prices, I believe that Koby's bottom line prices have been very competitive with other dealers I have dealt with over the years, and I feel more comfortable negotiating prices at Koby Subaru than at other car dealerships.
To summarize, I would highly recommend both Subarus and Koby Subaru in Mobile, AL.
