Reason for Visit: Service
I recommend this dealer: No
My Review of Lancaster Mazda Jeep:
Had my RX-8 serviced multiple times from the 3000 service until 22,000 miles. Prices are higher, but Dealership is suppose to perform "160 point" inspection every time. I have several different "bad" experiences. Each can be related to lack of thoroughness and not following Mazda North American guide lines.
1st experience: Asked about Recalls on my RX-8, they are even published on govt website. Service Advisor became slightly hostile and informed me that there "WERE NO RECALLS". Service advisor either didn't know his job, or he lied. Either is bad.
2nd experience: After the 3000 mile service ($79.99 for a $19.99 Oil Change). I noticed when the termperature dropped, on of my tires had low air pressure. With each subsequent visit, I asked the service dept to check out the tire - each time the response was - "Yep, air low - filled with air". Well at 22,000 miles it went more than low. I gave in and took it to a local tire shop (Not the "Highly Professional Dealer"), the 18 year kid took the tire off the car, soaped it up, found where the nail went through. Pulled the nail out (the head had worn off from all those miles of driving), patched it and we were on our way. Yes, I know, I used to do all the work on my cars, but a Brand New RX-8, I thought the "Factory Trained Technicians" with their million dollar tools set . . . . . well you get the idea.
3rd Experience: I justified paying 2 to 3 times normal cost because the factory trained technician at the "Mazda Gold Circle" dealer was performing the 160 point inspection and making adjustments, or so I thought. Mazda has pretty active service coupon incentive marketing campaign. On a regular basis I receive a flyer with coupons and a summary of the status of a couple of things. One of those items is tread wear on the tires. According to Mazda records based upon this 160 point inspection that happens several times a year, my tires had more the 75% of their tread left. Which I thought was not true, because the tires were worn through, needing to be replaced. I noticed that the observation was made at my 3000 mile service. So, the dealer was not even doing the inspections they were charging me for.
4th Experience. I wrote the dealer - I get automated promotion calls on my cell phone.
5th Experience: I wrote Mazda North America - I was sent a polite letter stating that all the Dealers are independent Operators, essentially their hands are tied.
Mazda's are Great Cars, just need a reliable service department some one in southern california. Reading the Dealer reviews, it is going to be hard to do.
