My Review of Manly Mitsubishi:
I have had problems with what I regard as excessive oil consumption on a Montero XLS thas was purchased new from Manly Mitsubishi in 2004. The oil consumption issue has been ongoing since I first noticed it within the first two oil changes (<9,000 miles). Finally after almost two years of trying to get oil consumption tests run I am told using within 2,000 miles 1/4 to 1/3 of oil dipstick level is normal and within spec and my 10yr, 100,000 mile warranty as well as 3yr/45,000 maintenance free program and 5yr/60,000 mile bumper to bumper does not cover any investigation to remedy this as it's within spec has me blown away. My Manly Honda vehicle bought in the same year never uses any oil whatsoever between oil changes.
I have written a formal complaint requesting the vehicle be replaced as I can't have my wife topping up oil between oil changes (she just doesn't do that) and I am not comfortable her driving a car that uses that much oil between regular 3,000 mile services, let alone the factory specified 7,500 mile interval which is all the 3yr/45,000 maintenance free program pays for.
I have rattling noises going un-diagnosed and have in general experienced poor service and follow up. In the first few 100 miles when we got a puncture and the car needed a replacement tire no one took ownership to get a matching tire neither would they take responsbility for fitting a tire that didn't have a matching spec. I finally settled for chasing down an equivalent tire myself...
I have written and complaiend to Brian Manly two weeks ago about the oil consumption issue and no reply.
I had a priior BAD experience with MANLY Honda also when their parts department ran into my brand new Manly Honda when it was in for it's service/car alarm install. It was 2 mths old and they expected me to pay for a rental car while they replaced the bumper ! I had to complain above the service managers head to Brian again, after showing him over $75,000 worth of salexs invoices they have had off me in the past 5 years he agreed to let me take the vehicle to my own body shop since there's screwed up the new paint job 3 times ! and the bill was settled by Manly.
I will NEVER buy another new or used car from this dealer again. EVER !
I don't use the Honda service department anymore, Hansel Petaluma is marginally better, I also reluctantly use the Manly Mitsubishi service dept for the maintenance free program but the customer service is almost non-existent.
