Tire Failure Without Warranty - Seanag
Wife bought me a new Accord Touring Hybrid from a different dealer recently. This morning I was driving to work and noticed poor handling, followed by a low pressure warning light. I discovered that there were two jagged tears in a rear tire sidewall, definitely NOT repairable. Honda roadside towed me to Fairfax Honda and the service advisor looked at my account and advised me that the other dealer had sold my wife a car with everything except a tire/road hazard protection, with no spare I find this unconscionable as they KNEW it had no spare, they did not tell her this and its a critical factor in choosing coverage, we have never had a Honda without a spare and we have owned over a dozen. The Fairfax advisor was understanding and helped as much as he could and I had no choice but to authorize the repair. He saw how frustrated I was and walked outside and asked if I would be interested in a full protection plan for road hazard/tire and much more, it wasn't a sales pitch it was a polite suggestion as he knew I was concerned about this happening again. He introduced me to the contracts folks (Ryan), he reviewed my current Honda coverage's in detail, explained their offerings in a professional, didnt push anything and was personable and friendly, it was a no brainer, I bought a plan covering road/hazard, windshield and dent repair for a VERY reasonable price good for five years, no mileage limitations. I was extremely impressed with the Fairfax team, and I will be coming to this dealership for service from now on. I have had bad experiences at a few other Honda dealers but these guys were professional, honest, candid and friendly. Turns out the hybrid tires on my car are very unique and they did not have one in stock here, so they were driving to another dealership to get one, and offered to drive me across town to get me to work at Fort Belvoir in Springfield (I work for the Military), a long trip from here. VERY VERY happy with this business, I will be a Fairfax Honda customer as long as I live here now.
Asks questions, read before you sign, & free time - Frustrated
The buying experience itself was stressful and frustrating. Mostly because the Sonic Dealership advertises "buying a car should be an exciting experience" and with sonic pricing the entire transaction should "take about an hour". Well, it was not exciting and it took almost 3.5 hours.
I advised the salesman I would be traveling some distance and time was short for me. The process started out smooth. The salesman took pictures of my trade while we completed the test drive. Great start as that would be more efficient. Then we returned to the dealership and I spent a lot of time waiting, the salesman either wasn't that knowledgeable or was giving me "spin".
Drove back the next day with the title for the car I was trading. The conversation the salesman and I had the day before he had forgotten because he said I needed to see the finance manager for a second time. The previous evening the finance manager said I would not be working with her because when I left the previous night the car was mine as we completed the contract. This was resolved at the dealership but my stress level was already heightened.
As I was leaving I asked the salesman about the high wall floor mats that I paid extra. I asked three times. The first time the salesman reply was we are out of stock on those. If I had not asked, would the salesman had said anything? I asked if they could be mailed each time. Finally about to leave and ask a third time about the floormats, we go back into the dealership, salesman calls the service department and I was told they could be shipped for an additional charge. The dealership did waive the shipping cost.
I have the car. So excited, FINALLY! Nope, I was going through all of the papers and realize a price discrepancy between the quote and the contract price. Now, I am really upset. But, it does have a happy ending.
Steve, the General Manager follows up based on my review. He was kind enough to create a spreadsheet comparing the quote and the actual price I paid. Steve continued to follow up until he was certain I understood the price breakdown (which I was extremely appreciative).
My ratings for the dealership fall short on the communication between the staff and myself. It turns out I had a fairly new associate and I do not purchase cars very often. Put the two of us together and it is not a good match. I am not sure if there is a mentoring program for new associates but might be helpful. It was a stressful experience on my part, not exciting.
The second reason is how long the process took. I realize we all have quite a bit going on in our lives. However, the advertisement indicates the entire process takes about an hour, the customer is up front about prior obligations, and I spent most of my time just sitting and waiting.
For the price and the general manager I would recommend this dealership. For the staff communication skills, training and mentoring is recommended. That or take someone you know who has quite a bit of experience purchasing a car.

I never had such a wonderful experience buying a car than when I went to this dealership. Apart from finding a beautiful 2017 Honda Civic, it was a great experience to have dealt with people who are very welcoming, knowledgeable, and understand the customer. I searched the internet for a reasonable price and less than 24 hours I got a call from Ray Turner, who was so willing to help me out. When I got to the dealership, Ray introduced me to Deyber Mendez, who made all the difference—he showed me all the Honda Civic that I might be interested in and was very patient in my haggling for a good price and walked me through all the initial paper work. He also familiarized me with the car’s new features. Deyber’s knowledge of his job exacts a customer’s confidence and trust, not only in him, but also to the car he is selling. I could detail all other things that Deyber did, but the space won’t be enough. To sum it up—Deyber is the MAN. I also had a very pleasant experience with Sunicia, the nice lady who explained to me all the add ons that could make my car last long and enjoy it to the fullest. I couldn’t have a very pleasant experience after an awful car accident. Not to be left out is Mr. Omar—he’s so cool. The last leg of this experience was the payment and financing—Mr. Anthony Oman, the Business Manager, couldn’t be more helpful.

I am 22 and I've never had a new car before, i currently drive a Honda civic 2002 and thought it was time to upgrade and make my first new car purchase. A friend recommended I see Ifiok and I am glad I did. He knew everything about Honda's and found the perfect car for me. A 2017 Honda civic. Glen the manager was able to get me 0.9% interest rate so my payments were perfect for my budget. Kerry in finance went through all my paperwork and explained everything to me in a manner i could understand . I highly recommend this dealership for anyone looking to buy a new car.
