Joe Costa at Portland Volvo

We recently purchased a used 2012 Volvo S60 from Portland Volvo in Scarborough. This was our first time doing business with this dealership. Joe Costa, our salesperson, made the car shopping experience a very pleasant one. From the moment we set foot on the lot, he made us feel at ease. He was very knowledgeable and answered all our questions. We won't hesitate to recommend Portland Volvo, and especially Joe, to our friends.

I had a fantastic experience buying a pre-owned car from Portland Volvo. Joe Costa was friendly, helpful, patient, and all-around pleasant to work with. The finance manager, Jason Shaw, was equally excellent to work with and actually secured a rate lower than my credit union could provide. The sales office is extremely comfortable. Heck, they even have a golden retriever who walks around spreading the love. They have a fixed-price policy. Will you be able to save a few bucks elsewhere? Maybe, maybe not, but I can't imagine a better overall experience.

The search for a pre-owned car can be a time-consuing, frustrating, and risky business. I never thought I'd say it, but I could not be more happy with my experience at Portland Volvo and the XC70 I am now driving. From the first interaction to the last, the sales associate I worked with, Joe Costa, could not have been more informative and helpful. I had already turned down a few offerings, but Joe let me know right away when he found the car that fit my needs. The car I purchased was in pristine condition, with much credit to the service folks at Volvo (and of course the prior owner). I was relieved that this dealer has a 'set-price' policy--so I could forego the endless haggling of most dealerships--and I thought the price was quite fair. The paperwork process with Jason Shaw was a breeze, and then Joe took as much time as needed to orient me to the car and its high-tech gizmos. One more thing: the old car I drove in with needed a headlight bulb changed, and when I mentioned this to Joe he offered to do it himself (at no charge) right then and there. Kudos to Portland Volvo.

We went to Portland Volvo on a whim. We had seen a used Volvo XC 90 with extremely low mileage and very competitive price on their website. We decided to take the vehicle for a test drive. Upon return we decided we really loved the car and wanted to consider purchasing it. With all car sales, there is a bit of negotiating back and forth ie trade in value, sale price of car. Ultimately we felt we reached a fair price for the vehicle we wanted. The salesperson, Joe Costa was very straight forward and professional. Once we agreed to move forward on the purchase, the process went very quickly and smoothly. Jason Shaw was instrumental in securing an unbelievable interest rate which no local bank or credit union could come close to or match. This is the second purchase for our family from Portland Volvo in seven years. We will not shop for Volvo's anywhere else. In fact, we have another Volvo dealer closer to our home but choose to travel further to work with Portland Volvo. I would recommend this dealership to anyone looking for a Volvo and a great sales staff.

Because the service department has been excellent, we decided to look at Volvo's. Because I was the person purchasing the car Joe spoke to me directly not my husband. He provided us with two options within our price range. Gave us a long test drive. And worked with us from 11 am to 4:30 pm answering questions, making suggestions and accepting our decisions without pressure. "No deal of the Century" claims, just excellent customer service and salesmanship. Today we picked our vehicle Joe was there to answer questions and walk me through the bells and whistles while Jason and my husband sorted the paper work. I came in and finished the signing and financials of the transactions. Excellent team work! I look forward to seeing them both everytime I bring my new S60 in for service.

My experience from start to finish at Portland Volvo was outstanding. I spent months online and countless days visiting dealerships and working with sales associates. Joe Costa was far superior than any other sales person I worked with. He educated me on the Volvo product instead of trying to sell me on it, and that made all the difference. When I finally decided upon a Volvo XC60 and there weren't anymore on the lot, he found one for me. And it is perfect! Thank you Joe! It was coming to a point where my husband and I were considering a new vehicle. We were both totally dreading to meet with the stereotypical persona of a sales person. We visited one dealership and had a small part of negotiating with someone who fit the previous sentence to a tee. Disgusted, we left. Reluctantly we resumed our search with the same uneasy feeling. One Sunday we drove to Portland Volvo and saw a couple of vehicles that we were interested in. I drove there again on Monday after work with the thought of possibly taking a test drive. It depended though, I thought, with the pressure related comfort level I felt towards the sales person. I braced myself as I saw a gentleman approach and smile; he introduced himself as Joe Costa and I immediately felt very comfortable. We then test drove two vehicles and I made the purchase the following night. All of our interactions with Joe were extremely comfortable, easy and totally free of any pressure, persistence or nagging questions of what I wanted to spend per month, etc. His sales approach and personality were immediately trustworthy.
Joe is a fine gentleman and salesman who totally earned our respect. Thank you ever so much Joe - your business card is right in our wallets to recommend you to hopefully so many others! You're the man!
