I had a great experience working with Joe and the whole HB Mazda staff. I got the exact car I wanted, and am very happy with my purchase. I recently had to come back into the dealership to get my black powder coated rims installed (they look amazing btw), and they have a very comfortable and accommodating lounge where you can wait for your vehicle to be serviced.
I recently had a problem with my phone contacts not syncing to my new car, so I came in and Joe Rosales took the time to make sure it connected properly, after about an hour trying to figure it out myself and spending over 30 minutes on the phone with Apple (iPhone would not sync), Joe was able to help me out in 5 minutes flat.
This is my family's second purchase at this dealership and we are very happy with our cars.

Being a first time auto buyer, one of the things that I wanted from the dealer where I would purchase my car was an honest and friendly environment - CardinalWay provided this to me. I had the opportunity to work with Steven when I visited CardinalWay looking for a Mazda3 Hatchback. From the onset, he was the the most candid salesperson I had encountered the entire day. He was straightforward with me from the moment he said "hello" in the parking lot. After having him tell me about the car and taking me on a test drive we went inside to run numbers.
Neil was the person that helped run and explain the numbers for me. He was also honest and straightforward and put in a lot of effort to put together a deal I was comfortable with. After he gave me a concrete offer, I notified him that I would not be able to commit until I looked at what other dealers could offer me. Unlike the other financing people I had previously encountered, Neil understood and did not push any further. I left the dealership with both Steven and Neil's cards and a positive experience with this dealer.
The following day I visited another dealer and had an awful experience. After going through that I knew I had to go back to CardinalWay. I returned to CardinalWay and worked out a deal for a new 2017 Mazda3. On my return I worked with AJ for my test drive and some of the initial paperwork. Just like Steven, AJ was a pleasure to work with - friendly and candid. I also worked with Neil and Paulina on the numbers for this new car. Neil included a rebate that I did not even know about, nor asked for, he took it upon himself to find me the best possible deal and did it on his own. I have no words to describe how pleasantly surprised I was when he outlined this on the itemized list of costs. Unlike the other dealers, I felt that CardinalWay was making a great effort into making my experience with purchasing a car as seamless and pleasant as possible; they were not simply focused on making a sale. With all that had happened at the previous dealer, I knew that I was in good hands at CardinalWay and chose to purchase my car from them.
Paulina was the next person I worked with and she was cheerful and full of energy. She made the paperwork process enjoyable. Not only was she very personable, she was also knowledgeable and thorough with every form she handed me.

We went for a test drive, not only the salesman (Nej) wasn't warm and helpful, but also he said he was too busy for a test drive (and they only had another customer/a couple). My husband said we are looking to buy a cx9, but for whatever reason he was insisting that a cx5 would be enough for our family!! Even though my husband mentioned several times that we're planning to buy the car, he was still insisting that we should lease one!!! My husband finally asked about the prices and Nej said he doesn't know!! He asked us to come back later, because one of the salesmen's grandma passes away and they were short staffed! The most unprofessional way to handle a customer! We're NOT going back!

Star Mazda's only benefit is their competitive pricing. Other than that they are as sketchy as you imagine a call dealership would be.
We found a Mazda CX5 on their lot with low mileage and a fair price. We wanted to trade in our car and put down a significant down payment. We weren't able to agree on a trade-in value and so my wife and I left the lot without purchasing the car. Later that day they called and came up some on the trade-in. After researching other Mazda dealerships, we believed that the price they were offering was the best amongst all the Mazda dealerships.
The next step was to negotiate financing for the remaining balance. My wife and I are very fortunate and we both have credit scores over 800. Since this wasn't a new car, we didn't have the option of 0% financing. They offered us a very high rate and wouldn't budge much. So we went to Capital One, which is our credit card company. We found a more favorable rate and actually negotiated some additional perks through our CC by going with them. Star Mazda said that they couldn't go any lower. Star Mazda is a preferred dealer with Capital One, so it should be an easy process.
We called our salesperson at Star, told them the rate we negotiated through CO and said we wanted them as our lender. Get the paperwork together and we'll come in the next day to sign. They agreed and we were off.
Next day we went into the dealership to sign our papers and take our car. Our salesperson was fine. He had been as helpful as a salesperson can be. While waiting Don McCurdy, the Finance Manager, we updated our insurance to reflect our purchase. During that process we were asked by our insurance who our lender would be. We chose Capital One and were presented with addresses to match our lender. We asked our salesperson to verify with Don the lender address. He told us the address that Don chose.
Then we were ushered into Don's office to complete paperwork. This is when it got really interesting. We were there with our 10-week old baby. She's the reason we were upgrading to a larger car. She was in a stroller. Had already been there 45 minutes. She was getting a little fussy and Don asked if the baby was a girl or a boy. We said a girl and he said, "Oh yeah, girls are the fussy ones. I have three daughters."
Which fine, not a big deal. Sort of a playful dad banter. Then he goes on to say that his daughter got married this past weekend. We congratulated him. He said, "I didn't go. She had wanted me to walk her down the aisle but she said she wanted her mother to walk as well, so I refused."
Then he rants about his three daughters. Rants about how he used to have a female dog but now he has a male dog and it's so much better. Female dogs are terrible.
He looked at our credit score and saw that my wife had a higher score than me and said that it was unusual for the women's to be higher because "women have more credit cards than men."
My wife has an MBA in finance. She is very good with money. In fact, she's the reason I even have a reasonable score. Once I told him that, he asked what my wife did and then belittled what she did. My wife and I continued to look at each other, like xxx.
We signed and left. We were just happy to get out. We got nearly everything we wanted, so it was a win.
A week later we get a call from Wells Fargo saying that they were the owner of our loan. We thought it was a prank call or someone trying to get us to give them our personal information. So we called Don to get the scoop on what was going on. He didn't return two calls and voicemails.
So we called the store to ask for a manager. They verified that the loan was in fact sent to Wells Fargo, not to Capital One. So the benefits we negotiated were out the window. We spoke with a few managers that weren't very helpful and finally, Don called. He got on the phone with my wife.
He told her that he bundled us with a less favorable loan. At least that's what she got after talking over him because he refused to let her speak. He told her "not to get excitable" on the phone. He then told her that he decides where the loans go, she doesn't.
Needless to say, we're waiting for Star Mazda to change our loan or to at least apologize. They aren't doing either.
If you want to go to Star Mazda, just be aware that they are pretty xxxxxx. They are extremely dishonest and they don't care to have your input when it comes to financing a car. They believe that THEY DECIDE. Not you.
BAIT & SWITCH DECEPTIVE AND DISHONEST - Bill L
Saw car advertised on Autotrader. Went to the dealership met with Al in internet sales and drove the car with my wife, I also met with Al's sales manager. Afterwards I agreed to pay the Autotrader advertised price. Al took me to his office to complete the paperwork. Halfway through completing the paperwork the sales manager came into the office and said there was a mistake and they would not sell me the car unless I purchased a dealer installed Alarm system for an additional 995 dollars. The car comes with an alarm system. Needless to say I was very upset and left. What makes it worse is this was a birthday gift for my wife and she was expecting me to drive home with her dream car. I checked Yelp and others have experienced the exact same scenario.

The Hands Down Worst Business Experience I've Ever Had - erikschmitt
WARNING: Do NOT get a car here.
(Feb. 2015) I mistakenly leased a Mazda 3 here while still in a lease with Hyundai (for some reason I thought it ended the same week I went to Mazda). I freaked out, called Mazda and went in the next day.
When I got there I met with Coty – the manager who leased me the Mazda 3 the day before. He sat me down and had me wait for him for about 30 minutes. While waiting for him, I spoke with a salesperson there and told him what happened. He told me it should be a pretty easy fix.
When Coty returned I re-explained to him what happened, told him that it was totally my fault and apologized and that I wanted to get out of the lease. He told that that couldn’t be done because all of the paperwork had been sent in and processed. I said there must be something that could be done and that I would even take a lower model for a lower price, he said that this couldn’t be done either. I went back and forth with him for a while and he told me what he could do is cover one of the payments on my lease. This would involve me writing a check to Mazda for a bigger deposit on my current Mazda 3 for the amount of 2 payments on my Hyundai, and then Mazda in turn would send Hyundai a check for 3 payments.
I refused this offer initially because I thought Mazda wouldn’t actually follow through with it. I also thought it was weird that I could totally somehow still pay a bigger deposit on my car if all the paper work had already been sent in and processed.
I wasn’t satisfied with Coty’s answers and told him I also felt like I got a bad deal on the car and told him about the lease deal I saw on the website for the more expensive SUV. He said it’s because the Mazda 3s’ sell so he can’t give me a better deal but can somehow magically offer a car that costs $5000 more for the same price.
After getting frustrated with Coty’s answers, I told my story to the original saleswoman I spoke with before Coty came in to negotiate with me the day before. She was helpful and said we could go talk to the manager Vahe to see what could be done. On our way to Vahe bumped into Coty. Coty asked us what we were doing and she told him that we were going to speak to Vahe. He said that Vahe went home. She thanked him for letting us know and she brought me to go see someone else.
On our way to go see this other person, Coty caught up with us and told us to follow him. She asked him where we were going. He said ‘we’re going to see Vahe.’ Weird. Coty had just said Vahe went home. More red flags for Coty.
Turns out Coty just took me into Vahe’s office to CHEW ME OUT for not wanting the car. I again explained I made a huge mistake not checking the dates and that I really needed to get out of the lease. The car saleswoman tried to defend me but he snapped at her. She became quiet and left the room. Coty asked me how it was his fault that I leased two cars. I told him that I never once said that I was his fault, that I had just made a huge mistake and needed help. He told me that I would need to take the car home that night or that he would have a tow company tow the car to my house and send me the bill. He also said he did try to help me with a ‘generous’ offer of covering on of my lease payments and that I didn’t accept his offer so I ‘didn’t even want his help.’
I finally agreed to accept his offer because I can’t afford to pay for two car lease payments + a car tow bill.
I go into the leasing manager’s office to complete the deal where Mazda covers one of my Hyundai lease payments. I asked if I would need to write a new check for my deposit and the leasing manager said no, he already had the original check and showed me my original lease papers and original check for the deposit. They hadn’t been sent it and processed like Coty said they had. Another lie.
For this lease payment deal to happen, I had to sign a new paper saying my lease was changing and then I had to resign my lease papers. ANOTHER lie. I could have gotten the lower model or totally cancelled.
After all of this, a few weeks later I find out that Coty/Mazda has not sent in the check to cover my Hyundai payments. I ended up making another payment on my Hyundai.
I called the finance manager at Mazda to tell him that it hasn’t been paid. He told me he would call me back in 15 minutes. I called him back 2 hours later leave a message – nothing. I call again the next day and leave a message. Nothing. So on and so on. Called Coty, the manager of Sierra Mazda, Vahe, left a messages, didn’t hear back.
After a week of trying to get a hold of someone at Sierra Mazda I was transferred to Sierra Chevy by mistake. I told the finance manager there my story and she walked over to Sierra Mazda to have someone talk to me and find out what happened. After she spoke to Mazda, they finally called me and sent the check in. I seriously had to call CHEVY to get a hold of Mazda.
