Awesome & Enjoyable Car Buying Experience - Allison Bennett
If you are in the O'Fallon area I highly recommend going to Interstate Motors to make your next car purchase. This team was awesome and delightful to work with. They made everything very simple for my first car buying experience. I rated them 5/5 because we experienced no problems, the car salesman Dave was a joy to be around, and everything was completed in a timely manner.
Jay Cox is Awesome! - David M foster
I recently purchased an '08 Buick Enclave from this dealership. Jay Cox was the salesperson I worked with. From the start, the communication and service were top notch, but what earned them a five star review was the way they handled a problem that arose with the car within a few days of driving it off the lot. Jay told me to come to him if I experienced any problems with the car, and sure enough, a couple days after I bought it, there was an unbearably loud feedback sound coming from the speakers whenever I tried to play any music, or even use my turn signal. It turned out that the car needed a new amp which I was told was about $600. (Not sure if that was just the part or the part and the labor, but, either way, not a cheap fix.) They replaced the amp for free because as Jay put it, "he wouldn't have bought that car if he knew that needed to be replaced." Bommarito was not legally obligated in any way to repair or replace that part for me, but they did it because it was the right thing to do, and businesses that do the right thing without being made to are few and far between.
Disappointed customer - Disappointed Customer
This place seems nice until a problem arises then they show exactly what they think of you. The worst customer service I have ever witness In life! Has a serious commitment with getting titles promptly to customers then lash out at you if you correct them and refuse to aknowledge mistakes and challenge you to a screaming match... absurd cannot explain this dump! Nothing like the Fred Leta Honda or Acura dealerships!
I needed a reliable 1st car for my son - Becky Homfeld
I was looking for an affordable vehicle for my 17 year old son. I happened to see a Facebook post by Dave Woellaeger. It clearly stated that he had about 15 different vehicles available and how much each one cost. He was very honest and upfront about what each car entailed. I was extremely impressed with how fast, courteous and forthcoming Dave was from the very beginning. From the moment I saw the car posted by Dave to the time I bought and took possession of the vehicle, only about 12 hours had passed! I'm still in awe that the vehicle was as clean as it was and even though it was a 15 year old vehicle, the interior is absolutely immaculate!! This is absolutely the perfect first car for my son and ANYONE'S son for that matter!! It is in great shape and it's perfectly safe for my son's first car. I would highly recommend anyone going to see Dave at Grow Automotive, he's definitely going to take as good of care of you as he did of us! And as an added bonus...I now no longer have to let my son take my good car nor do I have to run around playing "taxi cab" with all my son's friends/girlfriends!! ~~Thanks again Dave, you have no idea how big of a life saver you've been. Additionally, if anyone has any specific questions about my experience with Dave and Grow Automotive, I'd be more than happy to answer anyone's questions. If needed, you can ask Dave for my personal cell number.

My sales guy Shane was great:) friendly and energetic. I was in and out with my new car in no time. I definitely would recommend this car lot to my friends and family.
Extreme shady business practices - Hondatim
Bought a used SUV. All was good until we got an independent safety inspection done. No way it should have. Been sold with a current passing certificate of inspection. All brake lines were rotted, power steering hose leaked, serpentine belt needed to be replaced, front rotors were past tolerance(someone put new pads on to try to disguise this issue).
When we took it back to demand the issues be fixed... The dealership (10 days later) decided to say the loan was denied. We already received the transfer title and remaining paperwork in the mail .
They said they had to take the vehicle back. Strange how the whole situation panned out.
Don't worry we have proof of an seemingly illegal inspection done.
Consider this. Someone decided to pass a vehicle that had no business being on the road at all. The brakes were not working properly and could have completely failed. The power streering could have failed.
How would anyone feel if they lost a family member because someone passed a vehicle with issues like this?
Shame on this dealership on several levels.
I would never set foot on their lot for anything.
Take the bi state bus first.

It has truly been a headache dealing with this company.First off I wrote a review months ago.And they said that they would have someone reach out to us.Well guess what that never happened. So we had taken our car to a Kia dealer to have it appraised. So this 2014 Kia Optima that they had us paying $15,000 dollars for was only worth $11,000.And then they told us that this car had only been in one accident lies. The car had been in two accidents one fender bender that they told us about. And then another one more major. And we are looking into taking them to court for that. And they can't lie we have the paper work to prove it from there company and also from the Kia dealer. And they constantly feed you lies from Patrick to Steve. We took them the paperwork to send off to get our refund back for the GAP insurance.Come to find out when I called EFT insurance two weeks later to find out if they sent our paper work in they hadn't.And Steve assured us that they would put it in on June 26,2017.We had to send them the paperwork ourselves. And now the insurance company notified us that the refund had been issued to them.So my husband and myself reached out to Steve he told us he needed the lien release paper. So I emailed that and also text it to him.He told my husband that they were going to get it processed. And it should be ready to pick up August 14th or 15th.So I called them Steve said that he had to call and see if they had processed it.Another one of his unprofessional lies.So my husband waited and called back in a hour. And he got hung up on like three times, before Steve got on the phone telling my husband I didn't tell you today.I said the middle of next week and here you are calling me Monday another lie.And whom do you think you are speaking to like that. They are very rude at this location. We just want our money so that we can be done with these people. And if you are going to respond we will be reaching out to us please make sure you do it this time.

I trade often and am always on the lookout for quality pre-owned German cars. Imports Limited usually has a few lower mileage BMWs on their lot that pique my interest. If you notice, some of those cars have sat there for a very long time. I tried to contact them on multiple occasions for trade appraisals, After they took my information, they never returned my call. I am not one to wait, so I did business with someone else. They always sound very shady on the phone and ask questions multiple times. They also prefer to text. As I said, I trade a lot and have decided I wont call them again, even if they have a nice vehicle on their lot. Communication is the key to keeping a good business relationship.
Bad vehicle, hard time getting ahold of someone, couldn't fi - EKP2004
If I could give them a zero, I would. We bought a 2012 Dodge Grand Caravan from them on October 1st. They were nice enough to let us give them $700 of our $2,000 the day we got it and then the other $1,300 of it 3 weeks later. However, on our way home with the new van, I realized that the van had extreme difficulties making it up hills. Then, on October 2nd (yes, the very next day) the van had problems starting. It would try to start but not start. After a few times trying, the van finally started. We called our salesmen to find out how we could get those things fixed. After almost a week of being promised a return phone call we FINALLY got through and took the van back to be looked at on October 11th. We got our van back on October 27th or 28th and when their mechanic went to start it for us and it did the exact same thing it was doing before we took it to them. They told us to go ahead and take it home and see how it acted. Well, from repeatedly having to try to start it, the battery died. My 3 boys missed trick or treating because the van wouldn't start. We attempted numerous times to call with no return calls. We then called the finance company to file a complaint since the van was still not fixed. We told them we didn't want it. It was having too many issues, they weren't being fixed, and the van was too expensive to be having all these problems. The next day they came out and replaced my battery and tried to dismiss the issues with acceleration with it being a van and the size of motor. The starting issue was still not fixed and was taking more than 5 minutes to get started. We refused to pay the remaining $1300 until the van was fixed and we had a title (after more than 45 days we still did not have a title). The last straw was when I went out to start the van, after 6 minutes of trying to start it, it started, and instantly smelled very strongly of burning wires. When we opened the hood there was smoke coming from under the hood. I was very upset about how we were being strung along and the lack of a safe, reliable vehicle so I called and yelled at a lady there. It was very immature of me and I now regret it and did write her an apology note. Since we still were not having luck with getting the van fixed we called and filed another complaint with the finance company and again told them we didn't want this vehicle, it had too many problems. Finally, on November 21st we got a call from the Blackwell office stating they were going to buy our van back. It was a huge relief that I didn't have to worry about paying for a van that was going to cost a fortune to fix. We already put some of our money into it trying to figure out what was wrong with it. We just found out today that they will not give us our $700 back because it has been longer than 45 days since we purchased the vehicle. With as many problems as we had with the vehicle and with them as far as calling back or just keeping us updated I feel this is ridiculous. I guess I should just be happy we didn't give them the other $1300. There were a few other problems that I think are pretty bad as well but this was the biggest problem we had. I will never recommend Blackwell and will readily tell them of all the problems they gave us. $700 is nothing to a dealership but is a big deal to people with 4 kids who work their butts off for what they have. Now we have to save another $700 to have our $2000 down payment for a vehicle at a different dealership.

Subject: Stock #866 - 1967 Dodge Dart
Dear Mr. Soliday,
I have been writing this letter to you, over the past few months, in my mind. Now I am going to put it down on paper and send it to you.
First, the subject car you sold me is nothing more then a selection of junk yard parts that were collected from other A body MOPARS and assembled on a 1967 Dart GT frame. The car was misrepresented by you and Mr. Ferguson (title owner). There is so much wrong with this car that I don't know where to start, maybe at the beginning would be the best place.
As I told you in my telephone call, there was no "over-drive unit" in the car, as YOUR dealer description noted. The glove box is also missing. A critical chrome piece that is unique to convertibles, is missing. Oh, aren't pictures just great! They can hide or obscure so many things.
And guess what! When I got the vehicle on a lift, there were the blown rear shock absorbers and the leaf springs so fatigued that they could not hold the vehicle in a correct manner when making turns.
So, new shocks have cost me $100.00. And new springs with all of the mounting gear/hardware has been around $450.00!
Oh, and about those NEW tires, they would be great if they were only the right size. The right sized tires just cost me $450.00. That way the sides would not rub on the inside of the rear fender wells. And talking about fender wells...where are the front fender well braces?
Why are the heater hoses plugged on the engine block? Is there something wrong with the heater core?
Yes, I'll agree the "chrome bumpers look great", especially the rear one because it belongs on a 1969 A Body MOPAR not this 1967. Oh, and did you know that I'll be spending an additional $500-$700 for a correct rear bumper? Of course you did, you know what these old car parts cost. I do need rear back-up lights!
None of the front fenders are correct. And the trunk lid is wrong. What wreck did these builders get them from? There are NO "GT" badges on the front grill, fenders nor on the trunk. As a matter of fact, the Trunk molding is missing. The fact is, that there are NO xxxxx in the body/panels for the "GT" medallions to fit into!
And the brakes, yikes!!!!!!!
I love one of your comments that you made in a message to me; "This one is exceptionally clean and freshly restored including a new crate motor.".
FRESHLY: "Revived or reinvigorated".
RESTORED: "To bring back to an original or normal condition".
Well, none of that was done, except the crate motor!
Today! A new day, I rolled down the passenger window and it fell out of it's track! Well, I was going to change all of the locks anyway, because they don't work. So I'll fix the glass problem when I take off the door panels.
Well, I've grown tired of identifying and explaining all of the problems associated with this "1967 Dodge Dart GT Convertible", so I am going to just list everything wrong, damaged or MISSING;
Overdrive Unit Missing
Front Fender Turn Signal Lights Missing
Radio Antenna Missing
Radio Speakers Missing
Third member Snubber Missing
Side Bumpers Missing
"Dodge" Emblems (Front & Rear) Missing
Tail Panel Missing
GT EMBLEMS (4) Missing
Front Fender Braces Missing
Sun Visors Damaged
Rear View Mirror Damaged
Rear Bumper Wrong
Back up lights & lenses Missing
Glove Box Missing
I am never going to forget your, "FRESHLY RESTORED"
description....I think I'll keep a copy of that in the dart.
Well Todd, I'll end now. There is a lot of work for a 68 year old man to be doing, so I better get started. Anyway, you can guess how I feel about all of this and in this new day and age of the internet and communications, I will be spreading my story. And even the local car clubs will enjoy this story. Yes, I know, I sighed, "AS IS".
Oh, by the way....you should of called me back like you promise to.
Sincerely and very pissed off,
PROCEED WITH EXTREME CAUTION!!!!!!!!!!!! - b1824
BUYER BEWARE!!!! This dealership sold me a vehicle with 29, 200 miles that failed after less than two weeks of operation. The sales person (Christy) was great, however, my experience with her employer was less than desirable. I am fresh out of a bankruptcy and could not afford the cost of an extended warranty and felt the car would be reliable for a reasonable amount of time prior to needing any moderate to major repair. The car was a 2006 Mustang GT that had aftermarket performance parts installed. One of these components was the throttle body (brand new) and unbeknownst to me, it needed to be professionally "tuned" in order to function correctly. After a bout a week or longer I did some city/stop and go driving and the car died on me several times almost getting me hit at a red light. I had a diagnostic performed and was told there was an issue with the throttle body assembly. I immediately submitted this information to the dealer and they informed me that the car had been sitting a while and the throttle body just probably needed to be cleaned and serviced and that my in house warranty only covers "internally lubricated parts." After several minutes of back and forth, the sales manager Joe agreed to have the throttle body cleaned and told me he felt this would resolve my issue. I dropped my car off as planned and upon checking on the status, I was then told by the office manager that nothing was wrong with the throttle body and that since it was a performance part it will need to be tuned to operate correctly with the vehicle. Several calls later, I found out this was in fact the issue and that professional tuning can run $110-150 dollars an hour and can take up to 4 hours. The manager didn't even have enough decency to come out and speak to me when I picked up my car, as he sent one of the porters out with my keys. None of the performance modifications were made by myself and existed on the vehicle prior to me purchasing. I feel as if the dealer should stand behind their cars and any "tuning" that needed to be done as a result of their advertised "extras" should have been done prior to selling the vehicle. In addition, the staff ,aside from my sales person, was very nonchalant, unfriendly and lackadaisical to say the least. I can admit that I did decline their extended warranty however; I highly doubt it would have covered aftermarket parts placed on the car by the previous owner. At any rate, they basically turned their back on me and told me it was my problem. I am a well informed consumer and fully understand the ramifications of not getting additional coverage's however; I do not feel its reasonable for a vehicle to fail or need several hundred dollars worth of professional work done less than two weeks after buying the vehicle. I have purchased over 16 cars in my life time, and I have never had to make any repairs on any car purchased after less than two weeks of use. I had hoped their reputation, rapports, and relationships meant more to them, but at this point I have no choice but to share my experience. The car looks great, head turning show room floor muscle car...that can only be ran on the highway after two weeks of use. If you visit the BBB's website, you will also see other reviews similar to mine regarding this dealership. I have also searched other websites and found reviews eerily similar to my own story. People purchase a car, then shortly after they have issues and the dealership refuses to stand behind their product/vehicle. To add insult to injury, they keep reiterating that I declined an extended warranty; however they never address the fact that an extended warranty probably doesn't cover AFTERMARKET AND PERFORMANCE PARTS INSTALLED BY THE PREVIOUS OWNER. In all fairness, they sold me a very nice car and I will not claim that it is a lemon, however; they did sell me a car that proved not to be reliable only after less than two weeks of use. Buying from this dealership will be a crap shoot in my opinion. They have really nice cars, but do not expect them to stand behind them. As a last ditch effort, they also keep reminding me that I put close to 900 miles on the car which has absolutely nothing to do with the matter. It is a car, I have a life, yes its been driven...all xxxxx to avoid accountability in my opinion. I will dedicate a portion of my life to sharing my experience I had with this company. Thank you for reading my review!

Overall good experience. I Had a few issues on a trade-in but the general manager Matt was really helpful and correcting issues. Matt cut a check for $2109 for a clerical error and another $500 for half my original. Down payment and another $25 for DMV late fees. Matt kept his work and went out of his way to make the situation right. They corrected and helped with everything said they were going to. Matt had one of the team bring me my title so I could get the vehicle registered and all is good!

Poor negotiation & vehicle damage plus other complaints - brad0987
Thoroughly dissatisfied with my experience with Gateway Classic Cars and recommend anyone considering doing business with them to tread lightly. In summary, my purchase was complicated by inaccurate description of vehicle, poor negotiation skills between agent & owner, failure to provide title in timely fashion, and most significantly, vehicle damage between time of purchase and delivery in the amount of thousands of dollars without any proper admission of guilt or reasonable integrity on the dealer’s part. Details of my experience are provided below.
I recently purchased a ’94 Dodge Viper and worked primarily with Shayne on this deal. I worked with a financier that he & Gateway Classic Cars had recommended and what I understood to be a fair relationship with as well.
Shayne and I communicated via telephone & text for several days prior to my visit and inspection of the vehicle. During this communication, he was fairly prompt with his responses and answered my questions. However, many of the things he communicated were not fully accurate. For example, he assured me over the telephone that all electronics, including the stereo were in working order. This I found to be false as speakers were clearly blown. Not a major problem but an inaccuracy nonetheless. He also assured me all parts to the convertible top were present, which for the most part they were. However, he failed to point out that the back window to the vehicle (~$1,000.00 item) was missing.
After our communication I decided to make the 10 hour trip to Houston with intent on purchasing the vehicle as had been described to me. I worked with a financier that Shayne had recommended citing that they had a good relationship with them. I had completed all necessary steps and requirements on the part of the financier and was cleared for purchase of the vehicle in any amount that would have been reasonably negotiated for it.
After inspection of the vehicle, noting the speakers to be blown, the back window to be absent, and all other parts of the convertible top to be present and in working order, along with all other points of inspection/test drive, I decided to begin negotiations. From a seller’s perspective, Shayne did a decent job, but from a buyer’s perspective, not so much. I made an initial offer which Shayne failed to elicit any sort of counter from the seller. In the end the seller made out with a fair amount more than I had intended but nonetheless a deal was eventually made.
Once a price had been agreed upon, paperwork ensued. As mentioned previously, I was working with a financier that was recommended to me by Shayne & Gateway Classic Cars. I had completed all necessary steps and paperwork and had been approved on their part for purchase of this vehicle. I had also completed sale paperwork on the dealer’s part at that time. I was prepared to take possession of the vehicle that day, except, Gateway Classic Cars insisted that they needed “check in hand” before they would release the vehicle to me. Despite verification that everything was in order on the financing side of things (from their trusted partner) and even after receiving e-mail confirmation with tracking number of the check being en route to their location, they would not release the vehicle. Due to weather & transportation issues, this eventually led me to have to spend several hundreds of dollars to have the vehicle shipped to its destination.
Once the vehicle had finally been delivered, a few problems were noted and would later arise. First, they managed to deliver the vehicle without any sort of temporary tag for me to actually be able to drive it. To their credit they eventually e-mailed one to me, but a hassle nonetheless.
Most concerning, however, was the fact that the CONVERTIBLE TOP HAD BEEN DAMAGED between the point of my inspection/purchase and delivery of the vehicle. In addition to my own inspection at the time of purchase, pictures are present of this top being in working order on their website, as well as in my own personal possession on my phone. They had managed to break one of the retractible arms of the top when placing it in the car for delivery. To replace this top is currently a $3,995.00 expense as it stands online at the time of this post. They failed to acknowledge this fault or accept responsibility. Needless to say, feasibility of legal options is being investigated.
Finally, delivery of the vehicle title was less than prompt or efficient to say the least. After a couple of weeks had passed since purchase of the vehicle, there had still been no word of the title being delivered to me. After inquiring about this with Shayne, it turned out that the owners/sellers of the vehicle had traveled outside the continent and it became uncertain whether they would be able to provide the title within the 30 day window the financier had requested for me to register the vehicle. Keep in mind, the owners/sellers were in the U.S., and to my knowledge local in the area of Houston, at the time of my negotiation & purchase. Gateway Classic Cars simply failed to acquire the title. Arrangements were made to get a hold of the title, and I was assured by the manager at Gateway that the title would be shipped via 2-day shipping to me immediately after our conversation. Fast forward 4 days, and the title still had not been received, and after conversing with Shayne, had not been shipped by their manager at all as promised, let alone via 2-day shipping.
Eventually the title was shipped and received and I was able to get the vehicle registered but not without much prodding. The title also raised questions. Shayne assured/assures the vehicle to be single own despite their being mileage/dealer/name issues on the title.
Needless to say this entire experience has been a hassle. As a seller it seems like Gateway will cater significantly to them by gaining them the greatest amount for their vehicle and also given them the privilege of being very relaxed with delivery of title and other important points of a sale. From a buyer’s perspective though, Gateway seems to be a nightmare. Or at least the Houston location anyways. I can’t say that I would purchase from them again except under unique circumstances and certainly not without doing more homework than I would care to do. That said, I would also encourage anyone considering doing business with them to tread lightly.
Manager has a horrible attitude towards women - Niko
We purchase a truck from them and when I took it back because of an issue the manager interrupted the conversation with the salesman and began YELLING at me. If I had been a man, he would NEVER have spoken to me the way he did. NEVER will we go back to GMT. The salesman, John, was a very nice guy. The manager....wow...never again will I subject myself to that kind of verbal smart-mouth attitude from anyone. 4 stars to the salesman, John, for his friendliness.
Horrible customer service - Don't go to Auffenburg
Made a "VIP" appointment for 12:00 noon on Saturday
Received a phone call 45 minutes before reassuring that I was going to be there. Said yes I'm on my way it's an hour drive for us. We arrive at 11:50 am and we are told the car was sold an hour ago by the Aaron Hess the salesman that I made my appointment with. I had informed Mr Hess that I was paying cash and it was a bit further than I wanted to drive. I was reassured the car I was looking at would be worth it.

More trouble than it's worth - Ron
Personally, I would save myself the trouble and go elsewhere. A lot of run around with these guys and they seem to be sly and deceiving. Took over a week to get my title and within that time the 'check engine light' came on. So they took the truck back to them to get the inspection. Then, I go to get the license and told me I didn't get emissions. I had thought they took care of the inspections. Then told me they didn't do emissions, but if I had brought it in within 10 of buying the truck they would have fixed the problem if It had failed... which it did. So they sold me a truck that had failed emissions. Most confusing interaction with a company I've experienced.
substandard service - NWhite
Be careful in buying a vehicle here. After negotiating a sale of a 28,000 truck the dealer had to do some warranty work on the vehicle. The dealer has had the vehicle for nearly 4 weeks, and the only reason I know what is going on with the vehicle is that I had to track down the repair shop they sent it to. I can go on, but that isn’t worth it. Just look someone else.
Crooks - Maroboy93
Kevin is a car salesman at Zarvos Motors, He is very friendly until he put you in a car to get you off the lot, then he turns into a whole different person, who does shady paperwork with the first financial federal credit union, don't ever buy a car from here, they sale cars that wont pass inspection, only safety but no emissions, they put slick 50 in a car they sold me that would not hold oil, it ran hot because it had no antifreeze they lied like they flushed that and didn't, and also was misfiring, with bad catalytic converters and 02 sensors, it barely made it back to the car lot and they told me I'm stuck with the car, never signed a title and I never gave him the down payment, don't go to Zarvos Motors or they affiliates, image auto sales, complete crooks, stay clear of these people.
